RCA SUCKS as a company.
I had three, yes three repairs, on one of their TVs(it was a console, you can't find them anymore). I went to get another one since it was warrentied, and THAT one was broken! I go to the store, they are the worst brand since symphonic! They are the cheapest worst everything! Never again will I buy an RCA

I SWEAR by RCA. I own an RCA home theater system, TV, DVD Player and VCR. When I bought my DVD player, I had problems with it immediately. I exchanged it for another, no questions ask. When I bought my home theater system, within 2 weeks, I shorted out a transistor (Entirely my fault, as I had the speaker levels way, way up). I took it in, and they exchanged it, again with no questions asked. I didn't even have to show them a receipt. I love RCA, and I love Radio Shack.

I've got an RCA TV that is turned on at least 12 hours a day, that has been like that since 1996 when I bought it. It's not a high end model either, 25 in, not even video inputs just the cable input and its still going strong...I've always had good luck with RCA products, now Pioneer that's a different story (except the turntable)

You gotta be joking... RCA a quality company? I guarantee my Polk Audio system with a Yamaha Receiver would kill it in clarity and depth of sound. No question!

A good Home Theater PC (HTPC) will do all this machine does and better. My HTPC drives a Hitachi 53" WS TV. The best part of using an HTPC vor DVD playback? You can view DVDs at resolutions that you can not achieve with a standalone unit. Using an HTPC is also the only way I know to record HDTV and copy your rental DVDs for later viewing.
A good forum dedicated to this concept is http://www.avsforums.com

Well, DeepInside, I'm sure it will "kill it", but alas, not all of us can afford higher end audio equipment. What I should have said was, RCA is a great brand for the price.

Frawster - For the price difference between an RCA and a better quality brand such as Toshiba or even Samsung, I'd say it was worth it. The local Future Shop (Best Buy owns them in Canada) has minor differences in price. Like $2200 RCA Big screen to $2499 Toshiba HDTV 16 Big screen. That's definetly worth it to me... My Wife's parents have an RCA TV, DVD Player and VCR and they've had issue after issue. I'm trying to convince them to just sell it off cheap privately and get something they will really enjoy.

True Alric but a HTPC costs about twice as much. Something that I frown upon...
And DeepInside... as far as RCA being cheap. I wholeheartedly agree... BUT in lack of quality they regain in innovation. Why else are they pretty much the ONLY company that uses Guide Plus+ on their products? The idea is ingenius... a FREE 3 day TV guide? Why the hell is that not in ALL TVS? Though it was a huge flop the XBox V-Port was innovative as well as a whole slew of what RCA has done.
The biggest problem with RCA in my opinion is after they've innovated the idea the don't follow through to make a better product and correct flaws. That is why they end up with a Shoddy product cause they never fixed problems that other companies overcame years ago.
Example: G2 Panasonic DVD players... they were ok back in the day but boy did they carry a lot of problems, no CD-R playback, no mp3, nothing it was pretty bland. I just picked up the RV-32 DVD player and it's played every single VCD CD-R mp3 wma I've thrown at it. Even the very very crappy resolution VCDs I've put together. I used the Same VCD in the RCA Scenium which was released after the Panasonic and it played next to none of my VCDs.
