Dusty Horwitt at the Washington Post is insane. He wants to tax and limit our interweb. (The enemy must LOVE this guy!)
Introduced as children by mothers who were the best of friends, Marino and Lisa had no idea that they were destined to make beautiful music together. They met again as adults when Lisa's mother brought her to visit Marino and his family in Puerto Rico. She was an actress in New York and he an aspiring musician. They fell in l...

I don't like Biden's record on our type of issues, however (with a look at the glass being half full) if he becomes the VP, at least he will only get to vote on tech issues when the Senate is at a tie. "My arrangements of public-domain anthems are actually original compositions from a legal point of view," said the Czechoslovakian native to the Post from New York, "which means if someone wants to record them, they have to purchase the material." - It would appear that the Beijing Olympic Committee has infringed his copyright o...

"John McCain has finally released a technology platform. Most of it is the same old stuff; lower corporate taxes, protect children from porn, and avoid Internet regulation unless 'necessary.' Alas, in his view, helping the RIAA's War on Sharing is necessary to stop the 'global epidemic' of piracy, while Net Neutrality is somethi...

Thousands of recordings that had been largely consigned to the realm of prehistory in the digital age have gained a new life, thanks to the tireless efforts of one man.

NetChoice, a "coalition of trade associations" (lobby group) including Yahoo, VeriSign, and eBay is taking a clever tack to steer state governments from implementing a tax on digital media downloads: cloak downloads in green.
Andy Oram says: "We currently need copyright because it gives us a space in which to exercise our expertise and make a living by adding to the world's collection of high-quality content. Don't forget that most of the companies supporting the current copyright regime (companies so derided by copyright critics) also produce hig...
"In a digital world, many people don't see the act of copying as a particularly momentous or profitable event. Copying isn't what we do as an act of purchasing; copying is a thing we do to our valuable artifacts. People are scandalised when its suggested that you should pay for a copy copied to backup drives, or iPods; they're a...
