"If you could duplicate cars, would you buy them?"

Posted by AdvancedExpo in on July 8, 2003 at 1:58 AM

Just as a car dealership knows that you will want to test drive a vehicle of theirs before you purchase it, the R.I.A.A. (and all record labels, really) should realize that most consumers want more than just one song on the radio to persuade them to purchase an album.

by Miriam Rainsford: Advertisement In a recent weblog, Derrick Story wrote "I'm tired of listening to the RIAA. I want to hear from the musicians."

We, the undersigned, while believing in the importance of copyright, also believe in the importance of the public domain. We believe the public domain is crucial to the spread of knowledge and culture, and crucial in assuring access to our past. We therefore write to petition you to reconsider major changes that you have made to...

This is a sad day for me, and I think for the country. I'm afraid a dark storm cloud is now looming over the future of the American media. This is the most sweeping and destructive rollback of consumer protection rules in the history of American broadcasting.

This isn’t a brief shudder; the organizational structures of the last century are being torn apart. Business worlds are deconstructing and reconstructing. Everything is blurred, fuzzy and vague. And the meanin...

Some things need no explanation. They speak for themselves. This is one of those things.

A Duke graduate student, Justin Moore, has done an interesting analysis comparing the RIAA sales declines to some top corporations in the country that is really quite interesting.

As an ASCAP member, I have been concerned about the organization's stance on the RIAA's current trend and promise to continue to take consumers to court. Now that I know the answer, I am even more concerned.

By Moses Avalon Y'know how you're always complaining that the music biz is tough? Well, now is your chance to do something meaningful about it. Next week, the California legislature is going to vote on a Bill SB1034 which would require record companies to account accurately to recording artists. This is a major mi...
