Just as a car dealership knows that you will want to test drive a vehicle of theirs before you purchase it, the R.I.A.A. (and all record labels, really) should realize that most consumers want more than just one song on the radio to persuade them to purchase an album.

This is a sad day for me, and I think for the country. I'm afraid a dark storm cloud is now looming over the future of the American media. This is the most sweeping and destructive rollback of consumer protection rules in the history of American broadcasting.

With the recent news reports and analyses about the ongoing, continuing trend of exporting manufacturing jobs overseas and shrinking wages of American workers, this writer, for one, detects a connection between this and, say, the perpetual CD sales slump, in massive, stark contrast to the RIAA's "it's all piracy, stupid" mantra.

A Duke graduate student, Justin Moore, has done an interesting analysis comparing the RIAA sales declines to some top corporations in the country that is really quite interesting.

As an ASCAP member, I have been concerned about the organization's stance on the RIAA's current trend and promise to continue to take consumers to court.
