Great sound, will listen frequently, now if you could just post which song we are listening to. I heard a couple I wouldn't mind getting.

if you listen with winamp (which it was actually designed for), all the titles are listed as the song is playing.. I'm not sure of the result if your listening via musicmatch..

I neglected to mention that the shoutcast also has a website http://www.fesn.net ...

been listening to this most of the night, some good stuff on here. I'm using winamp no problems yet but all I get is the artist I'm not getting song titles. I have musicmatch at home I'll try it there when I get away from this desolate corner of the world where there are no people and nothing but cold humorless machines which suck the life out of me.

ok having said that, I'm getting song titles about half of the time. I must quit sleeping on the job....

I think we all agree that we desire webcast promotion for our songs. I, for one, grant Leflaw a blanket waiver to include my songs for webcast and inclusion on CD's. To get around the various "bundle of rights" Leflaw needs to know that you are the songwriter and freely grant your "fused right," that is, the mechanical performance, the vocalist, the publishing.

This is to avoid some so-called publisher or record label from coming out of the woodwork and claiming that some separate performance right or mechanical must be negotiated.

If you have some complication in your past, such as signing a song to a publisher, please keep it out of our system. To those of you thinking of signing publishing contracts---DON'T!!!! Do not sign up with ASCAP or BMI. You get nothing out of it, except a sticker to put on your car window. Get this straight, you don't need a PRO until your song is a hit which necessitates collection from broadcast radio and clubs. And you haven't accomplished that yet, have you?

This is the basis of Royalty Logic, which is battling for its life against RIAA/Sound Exchange to represent songwiters in a transparent royalty collection process. We are facing repeated legislative attempts by Harry Fox and the RIAA to be granted even further monopoly exemptions to gather up all rights in one.

Since WE SONGWRITERS have opted out of the circus of the CARP system, we do not agree with the arcane list of rules that proclaim a webcaster cannot pre-publish a list of titles, more than one song an hour from the same artist, etc etc. It's horsehit from another era of gaslight lamps and buggywhips.

These corporate monsters CREATED the barbed-wire rats' nest of splinter rights, and the internet is truly a threat of disruptive technology. It is not possible to find the owner of publishing or master recordings. Someone coming out of the woodwork and suing the wbecatsre partner's ass for the estate of his grand-uncle's second cousin for a work created in 1922. Having created an economic model that will not translate to frictionless distribution, now the corporations have a slight clarification they need: complete and total monopoly. Needless to say, the corrupt accounting process would be grafted onto the New Media Economy, and artists will never be paid. (as usual)

I heareby liberate the phrase "Clean Slate" from the ugly mouth of the RIAA. Clean Slate--yes, we want it. It's called Artist Rights Movement. Done in a new way. Direct Pay!!!

Dmusic Radio=good.

This rocks! Just listened to "Live in Yesterday". For some reason, though I have WinAmp and Rea;Player installed...it chose to be opened with RealPlayer...I actually(shudder) like RealPlayer better than WA, so it's cool.

Sound quality is great.

I think Tom brought up a great point on the fused rights issue.
ARM=Artist Rights Movement ...ALL THE WAY :) (Smile)

And it works in iTunes, too. That's a freakin' miracle all by itself.

Heard a song by Ouch, and now there's one by "Untitled Artist", so the encoding works, too, provided it's in the file.

Good quality.

Awesome!

Compmore.. the poor boy is sleeping on his feet today methinks.. I think he means me.. we spent 4 hours last night beating the website into submission..

some artists in the current FESN playlist are from my old efforts of trying to do what DMusic has done so far.. and do not have atists in them, anything from Dmusic apprears to have a complete artist and title listing..

I'm going to be getting a hold of these other artists/bands and asking them to sign up with dmusic and help them as much as I can.. but some of them, I can't even find..

This is a work in progress, and will only improve as time goes on.. I appreciate all comments, & questions..
DMemberCondore

The only reason you won't see an artist name with a song is simply because the artist has not filled out the ID3 tag fully .. not much we can do about that.. except nag the arists to fill 'em out.. or they won't be getting enough exposure..

I have set up an experimental 4 connection lowfi server!

If it's not up.. please don't complain.. it's merely an experimental server kind fo a "See, this is what your going to get" .. if it causes the main stream to cut out or overbuffer, I'll be cutting it..

err something liek that.. anyways.. IP: http://66.188.118.126:8000

lemme know how it's running..

It chose Music Match for me witch I'm having trouble with (everytime I update to the new ver.!) so I'll try it thrugh real one and see how it works:D (Big Grin) very cool
By the way leflaw I grant a blanket waiver to include my songs for webcast and inclusion on CD's. although registering did that did it not?
And if you need I will send a paper doc. (George actully has one for Empire Day from AZOZ and if I remember right it includes all webcast etc.
note me if i'm wrong..

Date: January 13, 2004 @ 10:30 PM
well.. I've discovered the bandwidth limitation of the shoutcast server... I would like to apologise.. but, that's what beta testing is for.. as soon as 8 listeners got on the HiFi connect.. it choked... thank you very much for helping us beta test.. we'll keep casting, but we may have to cut the limit to 6 listeners until we can get a more bulky connect.. >:) (Smile)
Batvictorsskull
Date: January 13, 2004 @ 10:31 PM
yes it is very choppy
DMemberCondore
Date: January 13, 2004 @ 11:46 PM
well, to fix the problem.. and also make a ton of people happy.. we've done the following.. we've gone to a 48kpbs connection @ 44khz MONO .. it's the one that sounded the best with very little bandwidth usage ..it's even listenable with DIALUP... and upto 20 people should be able to connect before it chokes.. we're casting from a T1 server.. it is on a 13GB backbone, so it's very quick, just not completely ideal for shoutcasting.. especially with all the websites being hosted from it... I started FESN to help independent artists like myself.. and I will continue.. with the help of leflaw and the rest of the great community here.. I aim to continue my efforts..

we are looking into other server options.. to host multiple genres.. have dj's.. the response has been great.. I am taking applications for dj's.. and already have a schedule set up.. all I need are people to fill it..

Thanx again..

using mmjb (an older vers) but the songs stream just fine... dont see any track titles or artist names...

thats ok tho,

just wish someone would pop up and say "that song was by so and so and now this track is by such and such"

Good luck with it!

It's interesting.. come to find out that it wasn't the bandwidth that was the problem.. the place that hosts our stream was actully moving connections around.. and there was other stuff going on too within the internet itself.. they were moving fibre around.. we may go for another shot at 128 constant.. I looked at the b/w monitor and there was some MAJOR nwetworkign issues at the hosting service itself, about the time it 'choked' and I made some assumptions BASED on that..

DJ's could be coming soon.. but it seems that whenever someone hears a voice we lose listeners! .. winamp DOES list the titles.. although if the id3 tag isn't complete you don't know much more than that..

compmore! .. there is a person with that nick!! ROFL .. get in tough with me.. through FESN.. there's a DJ application.. :) (Smile)

Shoutcast DOWN:

until 1:00PM CST

I am doing work on the main casting server! hopefully going to eliminate any lag.. there will be 2 possible scenarios happening after my work is done..

1. We will be semi dj dependent,

2. we will be dj independent, but will be fully dj capable..

so DJ's SIGN UP!

VIC will be shoutcasting by tomorrow night.. will you?!

I will keep you posted in the forums!!!!

Much appreciation for the community effort to program the shows. The real scalable model is to get in offices on users desktops. And colleges. We need y'all to create your own songlists and let's have 'em! You do that DJ part, we'll do the client development. Thanks.
