Artists: Interested In Performing At A Debate Against The RIAA?
Posted by Reggaepopcicle in on November 16, 2003 at 7:55 PM

Those in charge of the Goucher College debate to be held on December 3rd, 2003, have asked us to secure DMusic artists for performance after the debate. Interested?

Help us show the RIAA what music is all about. Let DMusic give your band more exposure to a rapt audience.

If you or someone you know would like to volunteer to perform at this momentous occasion, just drop fu-dog a note to discuss the details.

More information on the event:
Event: Whose Music Is This, Anyway?
Short:A panel of recording industry experts will examine the ethical controversy that surrounds Internet file sharing. Featured panelists include Mitch Glazier, senior vice president for government affairs at the Recording Industry Association of America, and Larry Feldman of boycott-RIAA.com. Goucher President Sanford J. Ungar will moderate the discussion.
When & Where:
Wednesday, December 3, at 8 p.m.

Merrick Lecture Hall, Goucher College
1021 Dulaney Valley Road
Baltimore MD, 21204

That is 10 hrs. one way for me. The only way I could do that was if I could be compensated for travel and lodging. Approaching this as a gig - would be the only way....... Contact me to knock around the details. I would love to do it.

As well any shows where musicians would be needed I am available.

Let me know.........

Sounds like a plan. A train from Philly to Baltimore isn't that long. Drive from here to Baltimore kinda long but worth it.

Sorry for the confusion TOm, But I am not running this operation, I am just clarifying whether or not we are to respond to dmradio, or Fu-Dog (which I assume you are on about Shrugs

"am I too old or are you bad spelchekers?"
spell check issues??? Confused )

Anywho.
CONTACT Fu-Dog if you are interested in playing for this event. He will ask you for a playlist of the songs you wish to submit, I ASSUME this only beccause he asked that of me whilst inquiring. Note FU-DOG the link to your playlist for submission and he will fill you in with any other details..
I'm really just trying to save you a step with fu-dog and clarify who we are contacting. I am not in charge here, just trying to gain interest. Sorry for any confusion.

If you're interested in playing at the show here's how you go about possibly being selected:

Pick the songs that you feel represent you the best as an artist. Put them into a user playlist and send me that link.

Goucher will select two or three bands to perform on campus following the discussion.

From our Goucher representative, "Performance and panel discussion participation are on a not-for-profit basis. However, artists will most likely be permitted to sell music and/or merchandise at the concert following the panel discussion. Bands would need to bring their own instruments. Details on equipment/techs will be solidified by Monday..."

These things being said, get your play lists to me by Monday, November 17th.

You'll find this information cross-posted in a forum thread related to going to Baltimore. Everyone's invited to the show, but only selected artists will play. Check the forum thread for hooking up carpools and such. http://www.dmusic.com/forum/music/6093
