South Park fights back!!!
Posted by DMemberThe Chuck in on October 30, 2003 at 9:32 AM

I don't want to give too much away, but I would definitly check it out when it airs again, which should be tonight (Thursday) or Sat. night. All I will let you know is that if you didn't catch it, you should because it slams on how stupid some of the bands are. (Metallica, Britney Spears, P.O.D. etc) Just too name a few. It points out some things like, b/c of illegal file sharers B. Spears now has only a Boeing 3 for a private jet, b/c she couldn't afford the Boeing 4. Trust me if you are a member of this website then you want to see this episode.

The only thing about the show that could have been better is, the fine should have been $4,000 instead of$400 and Cartman should not have been portrayed as making any money.

Ps. Britney owns a Gulfstream not a Boeing.

Yeah I watched it last night it was phat. And the hole thing to cartmen making money was that he ripped off other songs changed the lyrics and made a huge cash cow of a band out of it without any real tallent and by ripping off other lesser known songs to do so.

When I first turned it on I wasn't expecting it to turn out like it did. I figured it would be another mix of MPAA propaganda. SouthPark is one of those show that is massively distributed all over the net. Thats why I figured they would have their own bone to pick with file sharers and would do it through their show. But apparently they don't see it as a problem. In fact the analogies in the episode suggested they do see it as an efficient means of distribution.

Actually, the creators of South Park offer their shows for download right off of their website. They are good guys in this and are on our side. Matt Stone and Trey Parker are very outspoken about their hate for the MPAA and their treatment of independent films. I don't think it's too big of a leap to assume they don't like the RIAA much either.

Cartman should not have been able to make any money because he only sold 1 million copies. This would not be enough for Cartman to earn enough money from his low royalty rate to allow the record company to full recoup their investment.

Thus, Cartman should not have been able to make enough money to throw the party. The funds should have come from the recod company as an advance that would be recouped from future earnings.

Sorry, I miss read there statement. It is not OK. But Matt and Trey don't care, however, Comedy Central does care and will seek legal action if necessary.

Whew! Glad I went back and checked that out. I feel foolish and should be lectured by mroop for spouting off false information.

10 PM eh? I work till 9 tonight. I'll get a tape recorder ready...

Mom doesn't like South Park, but I learned in English class that its what you call a "Black Comedy."

Cartman throws a rock at a student who calls him fatass and he gets detention for it. Then the FBI and arrests him. The kid he hit was black; hate crime. Mmm that's good satire!

Let us not forget Lars Ulrich's dog couldn't get that gold plated something or the other he wanted...and because people steal music, he will have to wait a few months to get it. lol......this episode killed me

"I, just didn't think downloading music was that big of a deal"
"NOT A BIG DEAL HUH?!...come with me, I've got something to show you...and I don't think you'll like it!"

Great publicity for the current events, I enjoyed the scope they placed on the artists being denied the extra frivolous luxuries. I do think they could have done more with the RIAA itself and all the lawsuits in place of the artist strike plot but all in all I think its a great episode, much better then last weeks. I think we ought to send the episode to Pillar (from earlier post on boycott-riaa about Christian P2P feud http://www.boycott-riaa.com/article/8659 )I think it might hit home for them.
