It sounds like some of you are trying to
defend communism in some way? Communism
doesn't work guys. It's main flaw is that
when everyone is provided for equaly then
there is no drive to improve our lot in
life. We get bored, and pissed off. We need
competition. It invigorates us, makes us
better individuals.
But pure capitalism is also flawed. Ever
heard of the saying "The rich get richer and
the poor get poorer". This is bad! It
results in power overtime being controlled
by fewer and fewer people, until
eventually...revolution! (the masses wise up
and over throw the few). To combat this
problem we have governments. Governments
exist to keep the rich-get-richer problem in
check. The problem with this of course is
that governments need money to get elected
(advertising budgets etc); and media is
controlled by the rich wanting to get richer

. (In some countries political election ads
are free).
So are file swappers comunists? I don't
know. I don't think so. I still want to get
out there and compete, although I guess you
could argue that a lot of kids these days
live there lives on the computer. They
download everything thing they need to
stimulate their mind, like music and
software like games, but also software like
CAD for modelling, art software like
Photoshop. None of it payed for. They don't
go out and compete in the real world;
perhaps they live with their parents or on
the dole. Is this a depressed corrupt (not
in the crime sense) society? Don't ask me -
go away, my head hurts.
I do know one thing though, I believe in
freedom of information, for the good of the
human race and the speed at which it
advances (internet good). But I also believe
in the rights of the individual (right to be
compensated for his creations). Where is the
middle ground? Do we need a middle ground -
is there a model that would support both?
Certainly reasonable copyright laws are a
start, not current push for stricter/longer
duration CR laws. I think there is a perfect
model out there but it's only a hunch

. If
you know what this utopian paradise is post
it here

.
Btw, China is not communist it's capatilist
just like the USA. It's just not a
democracy. A one party, communist state is
very bad - all these are gone (no wait,
North Korea - what a hole). A one party
capitilist state is just bad - "Absolute
power corrupts absolutely"; humans need
change constantly so fixed one party
government just does not work because it
does not allow for change when things start
to stagnate and go bad (Tiananmen Square). A
democratic capatilist state is good but
still has flaws (rich-get-richer problem,
also rapes environment). The .....? ......?
state is very good. We've still haven't
discovered the perfect
political/econmic/social model yet.
