More sites now in line for anti-RIAA action
Posted by AdvancedJon Newton in on October 10, 2003 at 11:02 AM

The number of sites banding together to endorse a One Week RIAA Boycott of RIAA music coinciding with the next round of lawsuits against music fans is growing literally by the hour.

The RIAA is using its subpoena campaign to terrorize people into buying their owners' products but the owners of a group of web pages, including Grokster, plan to show the labels their lawsuits will hurt them where they feel pain the most - in their wallets.

The action site is going up at http://www.stopriaalawsuits.com/ and signed up so far are:

Something of this sort has long been needed. Keep it up and going. Only by standing up in a group and saying we are not going to take this anymore can the message be heard by those that don't want to hear it.

Well there is one other way...
Don't buy, no sales=no company to have to deal with in the long run. No money from me for the RIAA and other terrorist organizations...

Everyone must let everyone know that this one week boycott is coming! We all know friends and family and should call everyone we know and tell them NOT to buy CD's when the time comes. Word of mouth and the internet will make this boycott the most effective one yet against the RIAA. But only if everyone aboard ACTS!!!

Why just the one week? I plan to continue for as long as it takes.

I think this site should draft a letter and post it here and let individual people sign it and then send it to the RIAA stating that these people that have signed this letter will no longer purchase any music in retaliation to the RIAA lawsuits.
Thanks,

A week of protest will get attention, but the real strength and effectiveness will be in a permanent boycott.
Time is on our side.
All we have to do is not buy their product (takes zero effort, and saves big money), and educate others to not do so (takes varying degrees of effort).
This is fight to the finish, for the future of music and personal freedom.

I have to agree with sever posters, as to the *week* long boycott.
But perhaps others dont feel as strongly, I dunno. I say keep it up, but if it delivers a nice lil extra sting for a week, Ill take that as well.
Bonus is the word is spreading.
In a nutshell, this is not MOMENTUS news, but its good news nonetheless.

An off topic question, as well......
is it just me, or does it seem that the riaa has been somewhat quiet the last, say two weeks?
Maybe the are hiring new lawyers?

Glad to see the snowball is starting to pick up speed with the impending avalanche just ahead!

Wish I had a website to offer up for the cause. :-( (Frown)

Still no EFF...

Like I said before, as soon as I can, I'll have my site up and running and on the list hopefully. But the army is mobilizing. This list grew out of nothing like wildfire. Now let's burn the RIAA down!
