You want action? Here's action.
Boycott-RIAA.com, p2pnet.net and DMusic.com have joined DownhillBattle.com to create www.stopRIAAlawsuits.com, designed specifically to organize a one week boycott of RIAA music starting with the next round of lawsuits against music fans.
The RIAA is trying to sue people into buying their owners' products. Together, we can stop them by by showing them lawsuits will hurt them where they feel it the most - their bottom line.
Due to go up today or tomorrow, www.stopRIAAlawsuits.com will have detailed info, with relevant links.
"When the next round of lawsuits is filed, there's going to be a blast of media attention and that creates an important opportunity," says Downhill's Nicholas Reville. "A boycott starting the day suits are filed is precisely what the record companies don't want. With a broad coalition of websites unified against the lawsuits, the press and the public will see there's real, committed opposition to the RIAA reckless actions, and that we're not going to let scare tactics push us around."
"If you're a website owner, join in," says Boycott-RIAA's Bill Evans. "The more we have on board, the stronger our statement," says p2pnet's Jon Newton. "Let's do it," says DMusic's Larry Feldman.
www.stopRIAAlawsuits.com will include a link for every endorsing site and will regularly update and publish a list of everyone who's involved on DownhillBattle.com, DMusic.com, Boycott-RIAA.com, p2pnet.net, gnutella.com and gnutellanews.com.
Join up. Send an email from your domain to stopRIAAlawsuits@downhillbattle.org and pass this message to other sites you think will be interested.
By being part of this broad coalition of websites calling for a boycott, you'll also be part of the story when the next round of lawsuits is filed.

this is good news. we must all unite to fight what is becoming a battle royale for our rights. We need to ALL get together to formulate a plan to stop the madness. CodeWarrior, boycott-riaa, webcasters alliance, SBC, Sharman...
all combine to destroy the RIAA!

they may think they're prepared oh good and wise master. (kidding) they probably don't care what we think as long as they can keep the mainstream public from understanding what's going on. That's what I hope these websites will do. Draw the public into awareness

I agree with compmore, I think they're scared about the public finding out what is _really_ going on, especially the fact that none of the artists are seeing a cent from money won in the lawsuits.

True that!...I wrote a detailed letter about the RIAA and it's congressional lackies to my local newspaper editorial which has yet to be printed. It seems that some juvenile delinquent being kicked off the high school football team is more newsworthy than large corporations turning music and movie lovers into felons. Now I'm boycotting the newspaper too!

More than likely, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, and the other news sites will completely ignore and spread more propoganda on how piracy is hurting the artists, blah blah blah. And CNN will again show that story from the intern on why he quitting sharing music on the internet. There needs to be a legal way to get their attention.

there is, A full page ad in the Washington post or New York times. The problem is, Like Bill Mention once, is that is costs tens of thousands of dollars to do that. money we don't have. Perhaps Leflaw, Thumbtack, and Jon can set up a non profit orginazation and solicite donations. We may be able to get the money together more easily.

Take out classified ads in your local newspapers. They are fairly inexpensive - put the website addresses in them, it's not for commercial gain so they can't ban the ad on the "for profit" rule.

Deja Vu! After reading some of these responses I had to check to see if Rod Serling was here with me. Note to Mulder, no missing time or any other unusual paramormal activites to report.
