Maybe the bio-med guy will explain that when you clone a sheep, the original sheep is still in the farmer's field and no one has stolen it.

Actually the biomedical community has used p2p to distribute their work to other researchers, just as I have used p2p to make huge Macromedia Director files available to the others working on the project. Can't email them they are to big, to fedex them halfway around the world (literally to Malaysia) would cost two weeks and about $85...Contrary to what the RIAA would have one beleive, there are substantial non-infringing uses for p2p..

John Moreno,MD went to college
with Norm and he's a buddy of his
for a long time. There are no other
qualifications I am aware of for his
inclusion.

The biomedical guy is probably there because p2p can be used to share gene sequences and stuff related to medical research, other uses of p2p

I'd like to see them due for copyright infringement for copying someone else's sheep . . . HA HA HA

While I love to see the word get out on committees that are pretty much locked in, with the idea of trying to say what needs to be said, it was evident from the get-go this was window dressing only laid out to appear to be pro and con.

The fact that major opponents are left out is not a suprise. Sadly to say, it was expected, at least from my point of view.

This is a rehash of the same tactics that are used on a day to day basis for control of radio air play or news on public channels, or exposure to differing viewpoints. Same old game, same old tactics.

I think I called this card a bit earlier on a post of the same subject.

I am greatly annoyed that these folk feel threatened to the extend that they must exclude any opposing viewpoint with serious issues. Without such viewpoints, the kangeroo court and the antics that go with these actions will only continue to misrepresent the actual wishes of the public in favor of those that can spend the most to buy their policital support.

It is with great antipication that I await the cratering of the major labels and the idea of business as usual that the crunch of debt without income will bring. Hang in there boycotters, the day will come as more and more victums of such roughshod practices continue to hear and join the action of refusing to support those who believe that it is ok to rape their customers of money and diginity.

TechTV did a better job than Congress as far as getting a balanced panel. And Bitch Mainwol and Cary Sue didn't want to go to that one, but one of them is going to this one. So they don't want to go into a fair fight, only one stacked in there favor.
Maybe Congress should visit TechTV next time they do a panel as they may learn something.

I am French and live in England, two countries where Justice is still, most of the time, independant from money. Unfortunately this takes place in USA,and it is to be feared that, as most of the time in this country, the richest and the greater lobbyists, which, again, means the richest ones, with the most expensive lawyers, will receive the backing from American Justice.

Send messages to Norm Coleman that you don't think the panel is balanced.

I believe you can e-mail at congress.gov.

I knew it wouldn’t be fair, as usual; I wish I had billions of dollars to by the law.

Where is boycott and the EFF?

Does LL Cool J have electronic or programming experience? Unfair I tell you, unfair.

He’s just another RIAA pay stooge for show purposes, and it sickens me.

What will become of this trial is that the RIAA will be found without flaw, and we will owe the big five our freedom and money.

We need to rally where this “show trial” is being held.

A STERN REMINDER to my Congressman (Steve King) and Senators (Chuck Grassley and Tom Harkin)...

I WILL BE WATCHING!!!

If you vote IN FAVOR OF the RIAA, you'll have VOTED YOURSELVES OUT OF OFFICE as far as I'm concerned!!!

Bear with me, I have a feeling that these hearings may be an RIAA snowjob, get a senator to hold "hearings", weigh the panellists heavily on the side of the RIAA, throw a couple of musicians in, but only one who's pro p2p. The hearings clear them of all wrongdoing, thus killing any further debate on the lawsuits or on p2p.

Media headlines read, "RIAA win fight on lawsuits, perfectly within rights" Lawsuits continue, all oppostition withers to nothing. Total RIAA victory.

I'm pretty sure that's what's happening here. It's a confidence scam.

Depressing paulruss, just depressing.
I went to the website Thumbtack, http://www.senate.gov/~gov_affairs/index.cfm? Fuseaction=Hearings.Live
- to bookmark it to watch the hearing this morning - and the message on top said "ERROR NOT RESOLVED".

Look at who the supporters of the PFF are.

They are most of the people we are against, what an atrocity.

I noticed that there is a "br" at the end of the link thumbtack posted. If you delete it from the URL, you will get to the live hearings page.
Another try at posting the link:

Nope, that link still doesn't open right. I think this site must put a default HTML 'br' at the end.
Right click on the link, copy the link location, paste it in a browser window, then delete the 'br' at the end of it.

Alan Morris is AWESOME! I heart him now. You should hear him bash the RIAA! It's sweet.
