With iMesh based in Tel Aviv and p2p wannabe ES5 on its virtual doorstep, the Israeli branch of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, the non-US RIAA, says it'll give zero tolerance to file sharers.
iMesh down is registered in Delaware and last week, the RIAA filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against it.
Now, "We have decided to do anything in our capability to protect the assets of the industry," said Ronnie Braun, the boss of Israel's IFPI.
"What was decided is there will be a policy of zero tolerance," he told Reuters in an interview here. "It is the music that we are going to fight and protect."
"Israel is a modern hell for anything that has to deal with Internet and copyright," said Braun, who by an amazing coincidence also owns Tel Aviv's Helicon Records.
He said that, acting on instructions from the recording industry, he'd collected names of Israeli users of the file-swapping networks and intends to seek out Internet service providers that sell broadband services by promoting file-sharing.
He didn't say what he meant by the 'the recording industry' or what he'll do with the information if and when he gets any.
But with Zero Tolerance ...

Of all the problems Israel faces, filesharing is the most insignificant. I would think their government & people would be more inclined to solve the Palestinian issue first before worrying about who's downloading that copy of "Gigli" (will anyone admit to actually downloading THAT?)

yes. I've tried ES5. maybe I'm doing something wrong but I couldn't get the proxies to work nor could I get much out of the search engine and when I did, it wouldn't download. I got frustrated but still that would be a problem if Isreal rolled their tanks into the Palistinian area at the behest of their MASTERS in Hollywood just to shut it down.

You know what? Somehow I think that ES5 is not quite inside the Palestinian authority. I mean they claim they are, they want everyone to think they are but maybe just maybe they are not...maybe they are just a little bit inside Israel...we'll see.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't some of the Israeli companies who've been providing software for the RIAA's anti-consumer, anti-technology . . . er, jihad, been making similar software to be used by the Israeli government against Jewish "settlers" and dissidents who've been mounting massive opposition to the Israeli-Palestinian "road map"?
As for the RIAA: It could be argued that their strategy of targeting the poor, the weak, the vulnerable, and the defenseless in their campaign to force the genie back into the bottle at gunpoint, is not too dissimilar to that of the homicide bombers in Israel who've killed Jews mainly in old-age communities, poorer areas, pizzerias, schools, colleges, discotheques et al., the only other difference (besides the specific situations) being that the RIAA doesn't send people with nail bombs strapped to themselves to the homes of any of the P2P users being persecuted, er targeted. Not yet, anyway; you never know what their next scheme will entail (I can tell you it'll be NG - No Good) . . .

Heh, capt.
Comp, I had the same problems with ES5 when I was filesharing in the past. The program said that you're supposed to set your firewall to certain ports to allow sharing, but I didn't trust the program enough to attempt that. And the amount of hits/ selection did suck.
I dunno, maybe it's just me..but I'm thinking that the RIAA keeps up with this site. I know folks were bragging for sometime about how wonderful ES5 was, now they're going to Israel to stop it. Now, suddenly Israel is making a public statement that they'll stop filesharing. Do you think it's possible that the RIAA is writing to these different organizations and asking for pledges of support? If that's the case, maybe weh should start broadening our campaign and trying to gain some international backing or support. Yeah, we're fighting the war here on the legal front, and maybe that's enough...but we need to broaden the campaign.

I can see the headline now.
"Bin Laden found in Isreal through p2p"
It all started when Imesh makers decided to track information in order to kiss the RIAA's ass. They found one person in particular with a rather large collection of Brittney Spears and Jessica Simpson songs on 09-10-03. That user name was LollipopLaden. After tracking that username, they sent the information to the RIAA in hopes the RIAA would ease up on the pressure they present to them, fearing that they will be sued in the RIAA's great plunge to go after copyright infringers. The RIAA successfully subpoenaed LollipopLaden to find that it was actually America's Most Wanted Osama Bin Laden. Unfortunately, he signed the Amnesty deal from the RIAA on 09-15-03 and no longer had the p2p services or mp3s he was alleged of sharing. The RIAA had to drop their pursuit and agree not to take Osama to court.

Funny, Lestat. And I would not be surprised if the RIAA claimed, "Yes, we have the right to sue people in other countries over laws of this country we've twisted to our own whims."

I saw a newsflash on cnn a while ago, In a daring predawn raid, Israeli soldiers found and destroyed a massive weapons cache in the West Bank which included such illegal items as; a computer with a 200 GB hardrive containing the following copyrighted music;
Annie Lennox - The world will be a better place, and Why?
Bill Withers - Lean on me
Rage Against the Machine - The Ghost of Tom Joad
and a copy of the movie "Used Cars"
The IDF released a statement totally condemnning such items as terrorist propaganda items and vowed further punishment would follow.
(I probably shouldn't have to state that this is a spoof but...)

I also missed the Article about Amina Lawal, who was to be stoned to death in Nigeria for having a baby out of wedlock. The Sharia court voted instead to exile her to Palestine where she could be bulldozed as an example other "egredgious filesharers". Their reasoning was that she was obviously sharing something and i just didn't seem right.....

You would think that with daily suicide bombings in restaurants and in the subway, Isreal would have much more important things to worry about rather than file sharing. I could be wrong, but hey, I think suicide bombings are more of a threat to society than file sharing for god sakes.

Isntreal is Unreal. ES5 is based in Palestine, now there will be further violence directed at the Palestinian freedom fighters a.k.a. "terrorists".
For Jesus H. Christ's sake, you people, violence begets violence! Don't people realize this?
Yet, Isntreal gets more American taxpayer money for "aid" than the entire Apollo moon mission combined.

i dont know if they are able to do this but i think they will look for palestinian file sharers and only go after them, they are just using this as a nexcuse to further their oppression. if they cant pay up theyll bulldoze their house and give em life in prison or just kill them and sell their house.
