THE SWEET CHAP (playing live)
CYBERSLEAZE
2ND AUGUST /6TH SEPTEMBER
9pm - 2am. £5 on the door/haggle for concessions
Eclectic tunes, cult films & live music @ The Asylum Club, corner of percy street and rathbone place. Just off oxford street w1
A technological genius fighting with a soul laid bare, the genre-breaker who utilises New Orleans brass alongside P-Funk basslines but isn't yet willing to deny his folk roots. As bass, beats and twisted disco entwine with the stark beauty of a crumbling ego and torn priorities it creates a sense that you're eavesdropping on a private musical conversation between a man and his mind.
Club visuals provided by JAWS Visuals (Whatever pictures, Notorious Films, Portobello Film Festival). JAWS Visuals (Jonathan Miles, Alex Worth and Nick Ahlmark) are three London based filmmakers who specialise in creating visual tracks to accompany musical projects. Their experience in making warped visuals for twisted music is best summed up by their mind-bending video for Alec Empire's 'The Ride' single.
'The Cybersleaze Lounge' music/visual policy will be run by the MP3J Collective led by The Sweet Chap himself. The music can range from electro-pop to Ska, Tom Waits to Da Lata, it just depends on how the Collective feel…the only guarantee is if it's good, it gets played. JAWS' visuals will be multi-tracked alongside the MP3J's music creating an intricate blend of cutting edge music, interactive clubbing and a unique sleazy vibe.
