Kazaa Lite v 2.4.0 is now out.
And the Big Five (plus the Not So Magnificent Seven) won't like it.
How effective is Version 2.4.0 at thwarting unwanted guests? And which ones?
"It blocks the same IP ranges as PeerGuardian does," the guys at KLite told us, adding, "These ranges are stored in a text-file, and thus can be updated easily."

Whats to keep someone from altering the ip database file to prevent every possible ip address rendering the client useless?

Maybe there should be a "master list" of IP addresses posted publicly so we can verify that the list we have is viable?

I just got it...looks like it offers more privacy options than any K. download to date. Anyone else?

To answer the bad IP list question:
Only go to Peerguardian or any other trusted privacy site to obtain new lists. Make a back up copy of your current list and inject it into Kazza every few weeks. That will keep you open to others and as safe as possible from the bad guys.

yeah kazaa yeah
whatever
even if the program is decent.
every time i go on kazaa i always get crappy worthless files
after wading through what seems to be many people's real use for kazza - porn
ye hah porn and pop
a truly beautiful combination
or
meaningless drivel to waste my time
but glad to hear of security options

Look, P2P services do NOT have to allow every minion of the MPAA,RIAA,SBA to access their service. I strongly applaud software level blocking of these criminals, but I say that ALL P2P services need to have a disclosure notice which pops up when the program loads that states that MediaEnforcer/BayTSP, Ranger Inc, and other employees and agents of MPAA,RIAA, et al are NOT invitees to use the service, are in fact DISALLOWED due to previous and current activities meant to intimidate and harass other users, and that entry into the service past that point by these visitors is unauthorized, is trespassing, and is a violaton of certain sections of Title 18 of USC code .

Sounds good, I was under the impression
that the file was uploaded automaticly giving someone else control of the client. I'll try it out.

I've been with Kazaa Lite as long as I can remember downloading my first mp3, and its a pity to leave. But filetopia has been suggested as the next step to me. Supposedly, it is completely 100% annonymous and i wanted to know if anyone knew anything about the program or its 100% protection. And if anyone could inform me whether i can be traced on KLite so i dont have to leave, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

whoa...heh, nice! I was actually the first one to put up a link to peer guardian in one of the news articles, but what the heck, that works better. =P
