Want to be a featured artist? Here's how. You need to have three things...
To become a "Featured artist" on either the front page or a "Genre Feature" which appears on the genre pages, you need to do three things. We need a bio or description of the band or artist. We need a picture. We need for you to "Feature" one of your songs in the file manager. I wish I had a dollar for ever time I've tried to feature an artist only to find no description or image.
It's easy. Simply click on "Here" on the top left of the front page where it says " Click here to administrate your site!" after you login. That will take you to artists.dmusic.com and in the left hand column, there is a box that says "Admin your site" in side this box you will see links to "Description" and "Pictures" along with many other links to things that you can control such as "Music" and "Events" to name a few. Click on "Description" and add you band bio and accomplishments. Select "Pictures" and select one to be the featured image by clicking on "Feature". Also very important is to make sure that one of your songs is featured. Simply go to "Music" and click on "Feature" beside the song you want to promo. After doing this part of your bio and featured image will appear above your music.
To be able to make you a featured artist we need for you to do these three things. It won't guarantee that you will be a featured artist, but it certainly improves your chances.
Not an artist? Check to make sure you favorite bands have a bio and featured track. If not let them know.

Any new uploaded song goes into the bin, where admins take a look as we can, recommendations from from other users and the DM Picks forum are used as starting points. If the quaility is good, its getting play, and good comments, the admins (and a few select stealth users) can "Promote" it to a DM pick.
The charts as some people like to call them, are determined automatically based on a number of factors. Such as numbers of plays, download to stream ratio, thumbs up, thumbs down. That is about all I know about how they are figured currently. That is a big issue that we hope to address in the revamp of the artist section. So that they are reset so that artists who scam the system or have been here the longest don't have an unfair advantage.
