DMUSIC INTERACTIVE FACELIFT CONTINUES
Posted by Bluegrassleflaw in on February 28, 2003 at 10:53 PM

Well, Dmusicians, realizing, as all artists do, that you should never show a fool a half finished project, we decided to let you guys tell us how much you like, hate or are totally apathetic to our ongoing attempt to distill the pinball machine that is dmusic into its Einsteinian essence. D=Mc2 !!!

So now we put all the interactive stuff on page 2 http://www.dmusic.com/index.php?sec=community

What else ??? We will consider all comments, reject many, talk about a few, and maybe adopt a few.

I think that adding the second page (our old home page basically) was a great compromising idea. I think it defintiely helps to solve various concerns and issues of fellow members! Thanks dm.

Perhaps one of the two pages could be reached by clicking the "home" tab, and the other by clicking the logo above it. Then both pages could be reached from anywhere in the site.

Maybe this is stupid or far fetched, but can you create a radio station in the Los Angeles Area where i can listen to independent music from dmusic or just independant music too. That is my dream. I have stopped listening to KISS FM and RICK DEES and other stations and wish that there was an indendent radio station in LA. Please let me know what you think, i thought about this in more detail last week.
Thanks

I live in the Los Angeles Area, and is probably one of the biggest markets for radio...though i only say that because there are so many people here. Anyway, Ley me know when you have plans to start and independant radio station, i am hopeing the masses will flock to it.
Thanks

I don't know how it usually looks, but the "Recent activity" would be a little more impressive if it wasn't 60% comprised of people listening to their own songs.

The reason i say change the color scheme is because it dosent give off a good feeling when you go there. im new to there, but it dose not seem like a serious place. It would be better in my opion if the colors were a darker blue, the turqouis now dosn't do the site justice. Also i think theres to mutch clutter on the main page. Its nice to see that info there, but it is not a good first thing to see. It would be better if you had a news section, or somthing more inviting then just an assault of data.

Im still not sure what your site is about. But i have not gone to deeply into the site. Is it a MP3.com type site? Dose it advocate for Dmusic, and list sites that are into dMusic? The site seems rather raw. It needs more refinement.

Otherwise, le bebe, she is looking good ... :) (Smile)

:D (Big Grin)

Maybe changing the color? The same ol' shades blue and gray look very depressing.

agrees with Vic, the top 5 dm picks should be different, dont show any bias towards any particular genre.... that kind of image sticks.

unless you make it top 10? Shrug
me thinks there's wayyyy too much talent here for just 5..... :D (Big Grin)

Bluegrassleflaw

Maybe we need a top 10? Maybe we need a top 20!
AlienChillinBuzz
Date: March 2, 2003 @ 4:00 PM

hey three new hip hop songs on the top 20 dm picks. 4 out of 20 are not hip hop.
DMemberjmccombs
Date: March 3, 2003 @ 1:53 AM
The whole point of a top (5, 10, 20) is to reflect what people are gravitating to. If it's all hip-hop, it means either that the hip-hoppers are making better tracks or that they're promoting themselves better. Probably some elements of both. If you think other stuff is chartworthy, promote it! :^)

you are missing the point jm. the other generations dont get put on the top 20 hardly at all.
AlienChillinBuzz
Date: March 3, 2003 @ 8:01 AM
yes, the hip-hop section is what, 10 times bigger than the others?

its understandable that they will get better results, its a big part of the community and i personally do like hip-hop Nodding

but the top picks should cover more genres, not just the most popular 8) (Cool)
AlternativeJennae
Date: March 3, 2003 @ 5:31 PM
damn hey leflaw you owe me $100 Oops
want me address

Rolling On Floor Laughing!

And um...

as far as the top 20 go...

I do think they should be a bit more integrated period. Popular or not.
It is very unfreiendly for the ones who are not soley hip hop listeners. I don't mind hip hop, but I wouldn't stream that top 20 simply because I need more diversity than that. I would try to have two of each genres that are available.

we are still missing a few picks on some but eventually we should have them for every genre.

Bluegrassleflaw
Date: March 4, 2003 @ 4:32 PM
we are working on that. Its a hip hop world out there.

Dynamic genre-specific charts would be nice.
