Promote Your Band with T-Shirts and More!
Posted by AdvancedBill Evans in on February 18, 2003 at 7:21 PM

Yep it's a good idea, you sell CDs at your performances, why not t-shirts, hats and more on your website and your Dmusic page? Promote your band with your fans. Slick artwork helps, high high resoultion images as well. Open a Cafepress store. It costs you nothing, you set the price, you can make a few bucks along the way, and promote yourself everytime some one wears or uses one of your products. What have you got to lose?

A tip here, be sure to check out the image specs, different products have different specs and make images specifically for the product. You upload the images, select the ones you want on the item you want, and Cafepress makes the product, ships it for you, takes the credit cards, and sends you a check once a month.

Once you get your store open, be sure to add it to your favorite links on you Dmusic page, put it in your journal, in your bio, email it to your mailing list, tell everyone you can!

People stare at your girlfriend's chest anyway - why not put it (them?) to good use?

It is great, but unfortunately they have primarily white/light-colored merchandise which makes it not very useful for the darker or heavier bands. :( (Frown)

Yeah I know, its something that has bugged me for a while too, but it is better than laying out several hundred or thousand dollars at one shot to have them made. Once the demand is there for a bunch, then is the timeto get custom made, with whatever colors you want...

you can also use a store bought iron on transfer for light or dark clothes and print off your own designs at home Nodding

I setup and shop and ordered some of my own products. Quality is pretty good for both the printing and clothes. Beats paying for a run of pressings when you're still small time.
