Dude! The actor who gained fame and a cult following as the slacker "Steven" in commercials for Dell computers was arrested buying a small bag of marijuana, police said.
Benjamin Curtis, a 22-year-old New York University drama student, awaited arraignment Monday on a misdemeanor drug possession charge.
Police said he was arrested Sunday night on the Lower East Side after officers on a drug detail spotted him buying a small bag of marijuana from Omar Mendez, 19. Mendez faces drug sale and possession charges.
Curtis' agent, Bonnie Shumofsky, had no immediate comment on the arrest.
Curtis' portrayal of a surfer type who proclaims, "Dude, yer gettin' a Dell!" drove up computer sales and spawned T-shirts, caps, and backpacks, along with Web sites and online fan clubs.

It's stupid how he could lose his contract with the company over something he does in his own sparetime. He shouldn't be dropped. When you think of Dell you think of him first.

I agree. In fact even though drugs are not supposed to be viewed as "cool", I think that Dell would probably benifit from this, especialy with the teenage crowd. I could just hear it now "Sweet, the Dell dude smokes bud!" He will probably benifit from this in the long run.

Didn't Dell alreadt dump him as their adman a couple months ago (cf: those recent "Intern" ads)? The arrest will probably help "Steven" if he's gunning for other roles in the slacker vein ... but I happen to agree that the stuff needs to be legalized, soon. (With the caveat that driving while stoned carries the same penalties as driving while intoxicated, IMO.)

DUDE, your annoying face and voice are finally off my nerves! The puke will probably get away with a slap on the wrist. I hope Dell has nothing more to do with him. Those advertisements were the most annoying ever!
