Media Adding Fuel to the Long Gone East/West War
Posted by HiphopTank & Mil LO in on November 2, 2002 at 3:32 AM

As if music needed another so-called war. Run DMC's DJ and silent leader Jam Master Jay was mysteriously murdered on Oct. 30, 2002 execution style. The reason is yet unknown while many friends and family close to Jay claimed that he was not involved in violent beefs or had any record of violence.

Recently NYPD questioned rapper 50 Cent in reguards to Jay's slaying noting that 50 was shot 9 times, carries a loaded pistol and never goes in public without his bullet-proof vest. 50 Cent and Jam Master Jay had a relationship beyond music even though Jam Master Jay produced 50 Cent's latest track dissing many people in the music industry. The track has not yet hit the mixtape circuit but many industry vets have heard the track and are encouraging 50 Cent not to release the song.

The media is also displaying this another East Coast/West Coast War. In fact, the media was completely responsible for manipulating the minds of young artist into the first East/West Beef. At this moment everyone that is involved in Hip Hop knows that there is not an East/West War. Sick'nin Entertainment and DMusic.com is encouraging rappers to stay away from the beefs in the street as well as on-wax. We have to set an example for the communities that we represent and stand for. We cannot let this senseless violence go on anymore. If someone will murder one of the pioneers that has major involvement in one of the few forms of expression that Black people do possess, that shows that we are willing to kill anyone in our communities.

Lets Bring the Violence to a Stop. 1

The media can kiss my ass. Their coverage of the recent sniper shootings was what did it for me. They were almost ALWAYS wrong in their assertions. News networks are pathetic. They're getting to be like those annoying kids in school that were constantly spreading rumors. More and more of their stories are lack any sort of hard evidence. They're so concerned with breaking a story first, they don't seem to care if it's true or not.

Word Frawgster cant disagree with that one. As a Black rapper I feel that this dont make sense for the media to cause hysteria in the hood when not one of them have to come here and really see what its like

I was going to post this very same article about this whole stupid portrayal. I mean come the fuck on already. That beef was deaded a long time ago. You got east coast rappers collaberating with west coast lately and too many examples to show that there's no tension between the two. I mean for me to even mention that the beef is dead is stupid because it sounds like me saying "after saturday is sunday in case you didn't know" because that's something that people would just assume. But the outsiders who wants to assume the worst are just gassing up the situation. This is just stupidity & ignorance at it's peak and I'm straight up sick of it. Bad enough I'm pissed about this ever happening but the media portrayal is just even more sickening Mad.

New from Fox this fall:
"Caught in a Rap War"
the newest sensation in reality TV...
6 strangers are hand-picked to be contestants...
they are given vest and machine pistols and made offical members of a "gangsta rapper's posse" Unfortunately this rapper is ... AT WAR. Follow them as they drink Cristal and shoot up the neighborhood, all the time knowing that .... ONLY ONE CAN SURVIVE AND CLAIM THE PRIZE

I hate society.
