New York, New York, March 25, 2002 – Toadnode LLC, creator of one of the first Gnutella clones, launched Toadnode 3.0.1 last Friday, the latest version of its popular peer-to-peer file sharing application. Toadnode 3.0.1 is the result of more than a year of research and development that included input from industry leaders, businesses and government agencies interested in leveraging peer-to-peer technology.
This latest version features an extensible platform that can support multiple protocols, allowing users to connect to and search multiple networks. Toadnode 3.0.1 is free to use for 15 days, after which it costs $5. Toadnode has chosen to adopt this model rather than barraging its users with advertisements or invading their privacy with spyware.
New builds will be released every few weeks to incorporate bug fixes, improvements to existing features, as well as the addition of new ones. Toadnode will be adding additional protocols in the near future to give users more options and greater sharing capabilities.
Toadnode CTO, Michael Marmor, said, “The introduction of Toadnode 3.0 reaffirms Toadnode as a leader in innovation and secures its place in the forefront of peer-to-peer networking. It offers users the power, freedom and flexibility to search for and share files virtually whenever and wherever they want.”
Toadnode, LLC is a privately held New York-based peer-to-peer technology company. Toadnode emerged from an incubator project that was created in March 2000 to explore the full potential of peer-to-peer technology as it relates to businesses and consumers. First released as a P2P data distribution application, Toadnode has evolved into a platform for P2P networks. Toadnode is an extensible platform for enterprise knowledge management, the distribution of content, electronic commerce, and the development of online communities.
