I don't like the way Bearshare tries to alienate their users from the rest of the network.

Just downloaded it, and work good, but being on the Gnutella network, it's very slow on my 56k modem. Took over 2 hours just to download a 18meg file, which normally would take less than an hour

On the Gnutella forums, I see a lot of people complaining about people with dial-up connections slowing down the network. It makes sense, too--if you read about how the connections work, I'm not surprised.

Cryxan: It doesn't make sense. At least not anymore with a client with UltraPeer features like Bearshare is. Just because modem users won't rout traffic when they connect to an Ultrapear as a leaf node.

to all the people concerned about the "modem or dial up users" slowing things down. one must remember we all dont live in big cities where they have an option to use dsl or cable hook up. for some dial up is all they have. try seeing a littler farther than the tip of your nose. patience is a virtue.
