When you ask people the question, "What makes a successful web site?" you're going to get many different answers. You'll probably hear things like: lots of traffic, a good design, and fresh content. While those are all indeed crucial in having a successful site, you also a need a sense of community. Meaning, that staff members and regular members alike interact and participate within the site.
In order to promote DMusic's "sense of community" I am going to be profiling DMusic members so we can all get to know each other a little better. To start things off,
weaponzero has been kind enough to be my guinea pig. So lets get things started:
[Heidi] So
weaponzero, what is your name and where are you from?
[weze] keep in mind, i'm sick so some things i say might not entirely make sense \:|
[weze] Full name would be Eric, and I live in the Daytona Beach, Florida area
[Heidi] Sounds good. Your user page says that you have been a DMusic member August 20, 2000. How did you first find DMusic?
[weze] Well, I actually registered at deviantArt, and then I found DMusic from that and all was well when I found out I was already registered
[weze] But DMusic kinda scared me back then so I didn't really participate too much
[Heidi] Heh. So what changed your mind into wanting to start participating with DMusic? You have over 1000 points now.
[weze] Really, I'm gonna have to say it was the slick redesign
[weze] Everything just looked so smooth, it was nice to see a change to the site.. so I though I'd give it a chance again.
[Heidi] Good deal. Where did you get your nick, weaponzero, from?
[weze] I hate the name actually. I just thought of it like 3 years ago when I was trying to be cool or something :/
[weze] But I found out its a comic book that my sister used to read
[Heidi] And it's kind of stuck ever since?
[weze] So I must have subconsciously picked it. I go by Weze a lot now because its so cute and huggly \:|
[Heidi] I can tell.
[Heidi] Do you have a favorite section on the site?
[weze] Gees, I dunno.
[weze] I love the
news, even the "slow news days" are informative to me.. because I never read the newspaper or go to CNN.com
[weze] As a PHP coder I just look in awe of all the functions, so I have a lot of appreciation for all sections.
[Heidi] I'm sure
Boltsky and
inertia will appreciate that greatly.
[Heidi] Do you talk to any other DMusic members on a regular basis?
[weze] I'm friends with
Mikey, and me and
Cype are lovers.
[weze] I've also drug a few of my music loving friends to visiting Dmusic.
[Heidi] Wow, it's very nice to know that together you and Cype can share the DMusic experience.
[weze] I don't get it (I remind you I'm sick). Is that some sort of dirty joke? \:|
[Heidi] Haha, no. Because you're lovers.
[weze] Oh, so now we're "lovers"? Gees, you just don't stop do you..
[Heidi] YOU said lovers, not me. You must be sick.
[Heidi] When you're not visiting DMusic or DeviantArt, what are some of your other favorite sites?
[weze] I visit and like DeskMod and Razorart a lot. Just add .com to the end to get to em.
[weze] And I've been working on a community site for some time now, so I constantly scour the net for well coded sites to steal ideas from \:|
[Heidi] So you're a klepto, eh?
[weze] So you're a klepto, eh?
[weze] Sorry I had to :\
[Heidi] Understandable.
[Heidi] What kind of music are you into? Do you have any favorite musicians or bands?
[weze] Well I've always loved Metallica, which is odd considering my stand on MP3s..
[weze] But mainly I like pretty much all types of music with guitars. Hard rock, punk, classical.. its all in my book.
[Heidi] Are you into of the artists on DMusic?
[weze] Yea I've streamed all the Hard rock and rock sections so far, all of it is awesome. I've always been a fan of Acumen Nation, so its nice to see them on DMusic, too.
[Heidi] Sweet.
[Heidi] When you're not online and you have to go out into the real world, what do you do for fun?
[weze] Play guitar, drive my car aimlessly, listen to music (well thats in both worlds), drink, eat things off the ground, etc.
[Heidi] Really? What's the best kind of food to eat off the ground?
[weze] I ate gum off the ground for 50 bucks once. Swallowed it, too \:|
[Heidi] Wow, I heard gum stays in your stomach for like seven years.
[Heidi] That was brave of you.
[weze] Yea and the 50 bucks is well gone. I think I lost out on that deal..
[Heidi] What came first, the chicken or the egg? And why?
[weze] Chicken, Darwin. :\
[weze] I don't know if Darwin talked about chickens, I'm just trying to sound smart.
[Heidi] Interesting.
[Heidi] Have any ideas on improving DMusic?
[weze] Get a new icon for ":|" so its not so mean looking. And I've heard the "
Interact" section is gonna be even better so thats a major plus.
[Heidi] So true, that's coming soon.
[Heidi] Not that you're dying soon, but what do you want written on your tombstone?
[weze] Peppero... oh written. Uhhh.....
[weze] *tries to think of something witty*
[Heidi] Two minutes have passed, hehe.
[weze] Here Lies Eric
[weze] Died at 102
[weze] The Good Die Young
[Heidi] I agree, that was pretty witty.
[weze] I totally ripped that off the internet, by the way. Gah and it wasn't even that funny.. \:|
[Heidi] Haha.
[Heidi] OK, I think we can wrap things up now. Anything you want to pimp before we call it quits?
[weze] NO.
[Heidi] So you're not a pimp? Well that's good I suppose.
[weze] >:O
[weze] Thanks for interviewing me and giving me something to do while being sick that doesn't involve staring at the wall.
[Heidi] Anytime.
[weze] haha "I TOLD YOU I WAS SICK!!" is also a humourus tombstone..
[Heidi] That would be funny indeed.
