I'm telling you, if Pressplay announces a partnership with yet another company ... I'm going to be shocked. Why? Because it seems like they already have cornered the market with their ever-growing music catalog. Keeping with recent trends, earlier today Pressplay announced an agreement with Zomba Recording Corporation, the world's leading independent music company.
The agreement will immediately add music from Zomba labels Jive, Silvertone and Verity, amongst others, to pressplay's music library, which already includes tracks from three of the world's largest record companies and numerous other independent labels.
"This agreement represents another important step towards fulfilling pressplay's goal of building an online music library that eventually will include the vast majority of the world's popular music," said pressplay President and CEO Andy Schuon. "Adding Zomba to our catalog enables pressplay members to access even more digital music, including songs from such top artists as Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears and *NSYNC, among others."
"Music subscription services are a new frontier in the digital music arena. Our agreement with pressplay represents another step in Zomba's evolution as a committed player in this exciting new space," said Ivan Gavin, Executive Vice President, Finance and Commercial Operations, Zomba Record Group.

Honestly every deal, and every thing they're doing is completely irrelevent to the digital music customer base and market.
Every single story we write about it, while it is appreciated and necessary because it is news.. unfortunately at the end of the day will be wasted effort and wasted time.
Consumers went out in to the world and said: We like THIS.
The record industry responded by saying: No you DON'T.

I tried out pressplay, and hated it, and unsubscribed after 2 days of checking it out. It was nothing like what I was looking for in a subscription service. It will never succeed with the model which it has now, no one wants to pay that much for that little bit of music that they never truly own.

I know this is stupid, but doesn't NSNC boy look like Britney's Pimp. He made her strip for the animal rights calander that is coming out or he was going to beat her with his pimp stick. Now I can finally figure out for certain if they are fake.
