Pressplay & TVT Records
Posted by IntermediateHeidi Chambers in on January 29, 2002 at 8:02 PM

Pressplay sure is set on trying to make something of themselves in this digital music world. The company has announced yet another music content licensing agreement. This time, with TVT Records, the largest freestanding independent record label in the United States. Under the new pact, TVT's music will be added to to Pressplay's growing library.

The agreement brings music from artists including Nine Inch Nails, Sevendust, XTC, Default, Underworld, Naughty By Nature and C.M.C. featuring Ja Rule, among others, to Pressplay's music library.

Additionally, Pressplay and TVT plan promotions through which previously unavailable tracks will be made available on the pressplay service from a wide-range of artists.

"Pressplay continues to place the highest priority on building an online music library that includes as much of the world's popular music as possible," said Pressplay President and CEO Andy Schuon. "Adding TVT is another important step towards fulfilling that goal. The TVT library includes artists that cut across many genres, and we are extremely pleased to add their content to our service."

"TVT is proud of its early belief in and continued commitment to the potential of the digital component of the music industry," said TVT founder and President Steve Gottlieb. "Our new relationship with pressplay is an important step forward in this evolution. We are pleased to make our Artists available to passionate fans seeking the best music possible."

TVT was one on the first labels to settle with Napster and license their music. (I know Napster is dead), but it shows a willingness to work with other distribution models other than shiny plastic discs.
