BMG offers Portable Downloads!!

Under the deal, RioPort said it secured rights to distribute BMG songs via its upcoming music subscription service, dubbed PulseOne. The distribution license also includes the right to transfer songs to portable devices and other consumer electronics products such as music phones, digital stereos and set-top boxes.

The deal comes shortly after the major labels launched their paid subscription services, MusicNet and Pressplay, in a move to shift the online music scene from free file-swapping services. MusicNet and Pressplay, however, have yet to allow songs to be downloaded to portable devices, giving RioPort a head start in this heat of the online music race.

T.S. Kelly, principal analyst at Nielsen/NetRatings, said that because most people want to be able to take their music with them, "portability is a key component in making a lot of these music services work."

Well it looks like it's a step in the right direction. I'm glad that someone in the industry is seeing that there is a market for portable digital music players and that people want to use them. With the vast library that BMG has, it's a pretty nice deal, now that we're BMG is walking the right way lets see if the rest of the industry follows.

Aaron Lewis makes Linkin Park depressing

Staind singer Aaron Lewis will be heard on a new version of the Linkin Park single "Crawling" on the Southern California rap-rock band's upcoming remix album.

Lewis recorded harmonies for the song in Linkin Park's bus on the Family Values Tour last fall, Linkin Park DJ Joseph Hahn said Thursday. Hahn described the track, remixed by vocalist Mike Shinoda, as spacey and twice as long as the three-minute original.

Linkin Park are shooting for a May release date for the still-untitled album, which will feature remixes of the tracks on their debut, Hybrid Theory, the best-selling album of 2001.

I'm a pretty big fan of Linkin Park myself and Aaron Lewis is pretty good as well, but his stuff is so mopey sometimes, oh well I think Linkin Park is one of those bands that will sound really good remixed, their stuff is very well mixed to begin with and hearing it altered would be just plain sweet.

Actually, words like fuck, shit, cunt, cock, arse, and fart were once very commonly used english words w/few negative connotations until the 17th and 18th Centuries when Catholicism began to spread en masse to England. Many 4-letter English words were deemed "vulgar" and replaced w/their latin equivalents, like coitus, feces, vagina, penis, et cetera. Many 4-letter English words of old are still used just fine, such as fool, jerk, or dope, but since they don't refer to body parts or bodily functions, they were deemed okay. Well actually, "condom" has been around a little longer than the use of the conjunctive word scum+bag to refer to the male prophylactic, and "condom" was heavily tabooed for centuries until the 2nd half of the 20th Century.
