Weezer: In Touch With Fans
Posted by IntermediateHeidi Chambers in on January 24, 2002 at 4:30 AM

As some Weezer fans already know, demo tracks from the popular band's upcoming album were available earlier this month on Weezer's official web site. The tracks, which were downloadable in MP3 format, allowed visitors to get a feel for the new album. In fact, after listening to the demos, one Weezer fan posted on the band's message board and described the music as maladroit. (Meaning marked by a lack of adroitness.) The band, who obviously reads the messages on their boards, liked the description so much that they have decided to title the new album "Maladroit." The fan who came up with the idea, known as Lethe, will even be credited on the album for his artistic input.

Weezer has tracked over 30 songs for Maladroit, which will soon be narrowed down so the final album can be put together. The record, which is due out around spring, will include "Take Control," "Dope Nose," and "Keep Fishin'." Other songs in the running are "Your Room," "How Long?," "American Gigolo," "Sandwiches Time," "Saturday Night," "Porcupine," "December," "Slave," "Possibilities," and "Listen Up."

Heidi's Thoughts: I must give major props to Weezer. It seems as if they are really in touch with their fans. First they allow demo tracks to be downloaded in MP3 and then they go ahead and listen to a fan who posted on their message board. Two thumbs up for Weezer.
