Posted by IntermediateHeidi Chambers in on January 17, 2002 at 3:40 PM

AudioBase, provider of seamless audio streaming solutions for the Internet, has announced the release of AudioBasix 2, a toolkit for Web developers that simplifies audio integration.

"AudioBasix 2 is our next step in helping the masses realize how simple streaming can be. Web developers don't have to worry about a visitor's operating system, browser, platform, connection speed or plug-ins," said David Haynes, CEO and Founder of AudioBase.

AudioBase designed AudioBasix 2 based on the spirited feedback from its community of over 18,000 Web developers. AudioBasix 2 supports a choice of multiple audio players and streams high-fidelity WMA and MP3 files, as well as AudioBase's proprietary Java format, JSD. Audio-enabled Web sites built with AudioBasix 2 automatically stream the appropriate file based on the end-user's configuration and bandwidth, resulting in a quick, seamless and hassle-free streaming experience. The product also includes a Macromedia Dreamweaver(R) Extension.

"AudioBasix 2 gives Web developers the freedom to creatively add audio to a Web page. Using our JavaScript library, you can add audio to distance learning tutorials, slideshows, jukeboxes and audio-enabled forms, just to give a few examples," Haynes continues.

AudioBasix 2 is available for a free 30-day trial, and retails for $99.95. The product is available from the AudioBase web site at: http://www.audiobase.com.

The really, really cool thing about this package it that it allows you to deliver a specific Windows Media .wma stream by connection speed, which it automatically detects. You don't have to do squat... The user hears quality audio, as high fidelity as their connection can handle w/o cutouts!
