Gnucleus has had these features for weeks. http://gnucleus.sourceforge.net;
in the options, choose to evolve whenever a beta is released.

What is the deal with multi-source downloads? BS2.4 doesn't seem to fetch files from more than one at a time.

Info:

The Trojan was only in an earlier Beta, it is removed!

Those "Multi-source downloading" is not "swarmed downloads", it only remove the download from another host if the first resets!

Thx Pallando! So this "multi source download" isn't the fast multi source download we know from Xolox, Morpheus or eDonkey. Bearshare means the term "automatic resume" here.

PS: Does Bearahare now has an overlapping check when resuming files or still resumes on filename?

I thought they would implement real multisource DL like in eDonkey and Gnucleus, but they didn't.

This version does not include swarm downloads, but it includes all server side feature to facilitate true swarming.

The idea behind it is to release 2.5 with swarming, into a network of 2.4 servents which fully support swarming.

That's bull. From the man himself:

"BearShare is not fully compliant with the HUGE specification. This
will change in the near future."

How can you implement swarming without implementing HUGE properly?

You can implement swarming without HUGE, because to files with similar filenames and the same size are likely to be the same.

Gnucleus seems to be more advanced than Bearshare. I bet if Gnucleus had Bearshare's marketing, we would hear about it on the 7:00 news.

JohnBBJones: Wouldn't it be better when all vendors use the same swarming tactics?
So clients can "talk" with each other and use the hashs - instead of rely on filenames and not using hashs. A own proprietary way of Bearshare, denies the meaning of hashs, since it works only between Bearshare.
