Welcome to Gnutella.com!
Posted by AlternativeAngelo Sotira in on December 3, 2001 at 5:56 AM

Welcome to Gnutella.com, the premiere destination for all things Gnutella! This launch is really only the foundation of what the site will become. We will work quickly to add more content to all areas of the site – content that we hope will expand your mind as well as ours.

It's taken us quite a bit of time to launch this baby, one of those situations where everything that could go wrong did, but we're very happy with the results and we hope you are as well.

We're proud to announce that we're working closely with Marc Molinaro and the Gnutelliums.com guys to, among other things, power the connect and download areas of Gnutella.com. Marc has been extremely helpful and I'm excited to be working with him.

As this is the first article to appear in Gnutella.com news, we’d like to take the time to thank Stanley Sy, aka StarvingArtist for delivering such an elegant, top notch layout, design and logo for us with no problems or hesitations. A pleasure to work with as always. And of course DeviantART.com without which we wouldn't have found Stanley!

A few more very important shout outs include Chris Bolt, the absolute king of PHP/SQL programming. DMusic.com (my first love), which is our hosting platform. Simon Foust, Heidi Chambers, Larry Feldman, Travis Kalanick, the gnutella development community - thanks for your help in getting this going. .. sorry, this sounds like a speech I’d give after receiving an award or something .. I’m just excited to see the site finally alive - and the reward is really yours! (Even cheesier, I know – but I’m totally sincere).

This has the potential to grow into a great community for two reasons. First, the gnutella enthusiasts are already a great community in a broad sense, and I think this site will help unify us in many ways. Second, the technology on this site is specifically built to allow you to get the most out of interacting with other users while receiving as much information as possible about gnutella. Stayed tuned in the days ahead as we continue to develop the site and as the community begins exploding!

Enjoy.

there's a few very noticable bugs... bolt went to bed so they'll be fixed in like, 14 hours... unless I figure out a way to hack it up myself ... chances of that? pssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

anyway, you can notice them in the shout box and on the forum, blah.

Awesome. Great layout, lots to do and see. I'm envisioning thousands of people -- nay, millions -- coming here to begin and continue their foray into the world of gnutella.

it's cool to watch the gnutella.com meter grow ... 100's of users online right now... registrations pouring in.

It'll be fun to watch the community form.

Layout's new and different, too. How'd they get the scrollbar to fade out like that?

I love this layout.. it doesn't get much more unique I don't think... but I'm a bit biased.

thanks for all the kind words all.
