SOS... Save Our Site!

Most sites on the internet are ad-driven. DMusic is not. We don't have any pop-ups, any mouse-over this and that and WATCH that picture grow. We don't have annoying flotsam and jetsam to interfere with your enjoyment of our site. In other words, we're an independent operation, fueled by the support of the community at large. We don't have the funding of a Rupert Murdoch, nor do we sell your personal information to advertisers to help defray costs.

We are user-oriented, user-friendly, and try to be responsive to your requests. But as more and more subscriber perks become sitewide, more users decide to unsubscribe. Why pay for something you can get for free?

We all want something for free; it's just human nature. But someone has to pay the bills, and for years one man has been doing that, as subscriptions and sales dwindled to a trickle and costs continued to rise. There are a few here who have supported the site through good times and bad, and for those few we are deeply grateful -- but that handful of people alone is not enough to sustain the site.

We survived a series of events -- a redesign which didn't go exactly as planned; a serious crash which could have killed a community with less heart; a turnover in personnel that caused hiccups, breakages, and delays from time to time. We survived -- so far -- the rise of social interaction sites like FaceBook and Twitter. Whether or not we continue to survive is up to you.

Moving to the new Amazon cloud server was expensive, but brought much more stability to the site. We attempted to retrieve broken files and replaced as many as we could. And while some things don't work, we're still standing. And your music is the focus.

We ask for volunteers. Currently, aside from leflaw and Tracy, there are only a few. We will continue to do our best to make DMusic your home away from home, a place where you can share your music with each other, a place where you can be heard above the din and noise of radio-induced, prepackaged, cookie-cutter, industry-owned canned music... for as long as we can.

Now it's time to step up, time to put your money where you mouth is. If you love DMusic, if you love this community, give. Give a little, give a lot, give what you can. A basic three-month subscription is only $25. That works out to about $2 a week. Buy a t-shirt, a hat, a CD from MusicPill, or just make a donation of any amount.

But if you don't care enough to save DMusic, who will?

Three ways to show your support:

Subscribe Buy stuff!
Donate

Make that four ways!

You can also give a gift subscription. Simply send Tracy a dnote when you make the payment, and tell her who to give it to. A nice way to help out a friend, too!

Thanks,

SHADOWMOM

I really miss the community that used to exist around here. Its more thanks to people like Shadowmom and Dexter that keep people such as myself coming back here above anywhere else. Still I think people have mainly left because the community somehow died.

I tried by making a radio show based around this site with the help of a number in the community but I still never reach a peak listening audience of 5.....But shit I had fun doing it. When I was on the mp3.com.au back in my early music attempts I used to somehow get 1000 listens a month but never got a comment....ok maybe not ever but rairly. When I came to Dmusic the community fucking rocked its cock off man!!! I had Zedsalts, Shams, GT Original, Dan Sindel, Frances Plante Scott, Farfor44 before I had a chance to listen to my own track to see if it turned out ok.... These people are still out there....We need to get them back on and have a reunion like it again 2005!!!

I think the only way this site will survive in the future is to really band together again to get the listens. Use the sites that work against us such as facebook, myspace etc to promote DMusic. Comment on as many people as we can. And fucking darn it...even subscribe..

I hope Dmusic keeps going forever :) (Smile)
Dmusic was great when I joined and still is I'm sure, but sometimes life takes us away from the things we love doing the most as I'm sure you all know from time to time, we was both hoping to return again very soon and subscribe, I just hope it's not too late :( (Frown)

Of all the music websites Musical Notes I still think this place is the best Thumbs Up

Hey, I sent a little bit - I'm far from rich, that's the only reason I haven't subscribed (yet). Maybe will in the future.
