George Harrison passed away Thursday afternoon at a friend's home at 1:30 in Los Angeles , possibly losing to his long battle with cancer. His family; wife, Olivia Harrison, and son Dhani, 24, were with him when he died. They released a statement saying:
"He left this world as he lived in it, conscious of God, fearless of death, and at peace, surrounded by family and friends. He often said, 'Everything else can wait but the search for God cannot wait, and love one another."
George was known as the "quiet Beatle" and is probably the least known of all 4 former members because of this. He was only 58.
Rest In Peace George.

Rest in Peace George Harrison... it's a sad day indeed. What i find most sad a lot of people didn't even know who he was unless you mention the beatles. The younger generation doesn't remember the name or what he had contributed to the world of music, so let's make sure the rest of us do remember.

Terrible loss for the music community and especially for us Beatles fanatics. He was an inspiration as a musician and as an individual. His music was original as was his short films. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and unique guitar style.
For those trivia buffs, he recorded "All Those Years Ago" with contributions from Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney in 1981. The song was dedicated to John Lennon following his 1980 death. It was the only time the three Beatles had recorded a new song prior to the 1995 Anthology sessions.
Rest in peace George. We'll miss you.

I really dug his "Cloud Nine" tracks...
My kids still can sing some of the songs, since we copied it to another tape, which strecthed out and finally stopped playing, made a second and ran that into the ground as well...It is ironic that I came across the original tape on Sunday, while looking for a blank tape for my daughter's school project, and heard the news on Monday morning, as I was driving her to school...
Thank you, George, for the music you provided us all with in your time here amongst us.

with all that is going on in the world today it was always an excape when you heard a beatle or harrison tune. i dont ever recall them or him singing about hate or death as in much of todays music. on one hand i am sad,to have lost another great guitarist.but knowing what pain cancer can create,i am happy that he is in peace.folks, when things go sour in life pop in a cd by harrison,or the beatles.soon you will be singing along and a little happier.music is wonderful when done by the right people, and harrison was as right as it gets.he may be gone, but the music will live forever.
