Chris Nelson, former guitarist and songwriter for Fishkill announced his solo effort "Nightfall" will be released on his label, Fishwhacked, in September.
The CD is a slightly different sound from the unpolished garage-rock sound of Fishkill.
"I wanted something that didn't sound like Fishkill," he says. Looking at Pete Townshend's "Empty Glass" album, Nelson set out to make a record with a defining sound. Taking his time and carefully working through all of the instruments, he produced a 14-track disc with a wide range of styles from the typical rock sound to acoustic folk ballads.
"I've always had my own sound, but I simply adjusted aspects of that sound."
The solo record blends rock, folk, and blues together into a unique mixture of sound and the songs have a way of staying wth you, long after the music stops playing.
Tracks have already been uploaded on several online profiles while the CD is due out towards the end of September. The CD will be availble through CD Baby, who also carries the three Fishkill CDs.
Meanwhile, Nelson begins playing his acoustic shows in centeral Pennsylvania starting at the Aurora Cybercafe in Mechanicsburg on September 27th at 7:00 PM.
