Okay, get ready-- we are about to rumble!! This is the sort-of-annual DMusic Cover Contest, where artists cover randomly selected OTHER artists, all registered at DMusic, and all in good fun.


Prizes include, but are not limited to -- CDs from Fra Donaghy and Gary Tucker (your choice of GTOriginal's growing library), a DMusic gift pack of t-shirt, stickers, and pins; and an exclusive t-shirt designed by ME! ShadowMom! Need I say more? More prizes are welcome, but remember this contest is all about fun.


Submit banners, post them on webpages, forums, anywhere and everywhere-- and don't forget to link back to DMusic.


1. To enter, you must have a minimum of 3 original tracks on your artist page or pages -- they must stream and download should be enabled. Yeah, that BIG yellow button must be visible! If an artist does not allow downloads, they must agree to make a download available to the cover artist who draws their name and to Distilled1 for airing on DMusic Radio. These can be collaborations, too, as long as they are on YOUR page.

2. Any DMusic artist may participate provided they can either produce the music or get someone to collaborate with them -- so if you are a vocalist, or need a vocalist, team up! New user? No problem! As long as you meet the other criteria, including the deadline to enter -- you are eligible.

3. For clarity, participants will DNote me, ShadowMom, with your name or names, if you are collaborating. Do NOT email me or post it ONLY in the forums, but please do post it anywhere you like. Just make sure I get a DNote by the deadline. I\'ll post all the names in my blog, right under the image of that truly fetching t-shirt.

4. Cover assignments will be posted August 1st, here and in my blog, where I can maintain a bit of control. When you have uploaded your track, again-- DNote me and I\'ll also link it in my blog, along with the original. Feel free to link to it in the forums and anywhere else that you can think of.

5. Voting will be open to any user who registers before the actual voting begins-- so no later than midnight EST August 22nd... and only one vote per user! Can you vote for yourself? Of COURSE!! Instructions for voting will be posted when the voting begins.

Voting begins tomorrow, August 23rd and ends promptly at midnight EST on August 31st. I have the abacus all ready to go in case I run out of fingers and toes

Okay, number 1, I will not weight it in favor of the participants. All registered DMusic users who registered on/before August 22nd are eligible to vote. This is not a closed contest, just between you beautiful people who participated. It's a get-involved, listen, enjoy and appreciate contest for all of us.

Number 2, I will allow you to vote for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. A 1st-place vote counts for 3 points, a 2nd-place vote counts for 2, and a 3rd-place vote for 1. If you only want to vote for one, that entry will be awarded 3 points. Copy and paste the form I'm going to provide at the end of this diatribe. (I'm going to have to borrow someone else's fingers and toes for this, though. Any volunteers? I only need them for a week or so. )

Number 3, anyone who has already voted will be contacted and allowed to revise their votes. Anyone who has NOT voted yet -- get busy!!

Number 4, prizes will be awarded as stated. The contest is for the cover, not the original. These points should have been made sometime in the 3 weeks BEFORE voting began. I do apologize for not announcing the $$ award earlier, but you knew when I knew; and the fact that green stuff is involved should not change the playing field. What you work out between yourselves is your business, but I hope this doesn't cause any friction.

Number 5, if a runoff is necessary, it will be conducted on September 1st, because that's the last day I have for this contest. So check back early, I'll post it as soon as I possibly can.

Number 6, you are all winners-- never forget that! Just by showing the discipline and the creativity to complete this project, in spite of life and all its little speedbumps-- you DID IT!!!! So stop over-thinking it, relax, and enjoy what you have accomplished. You all get for your work.
