Scour
Posted by DMemberNicolas Pellegrino in on June 5, 2001 at 3:14 PM

Okay, I know it's been a while since I posted here, but give me a break I've been busy but anyway this is whats up. I recently went to www.scour.com to check up on them, and I've noticed a lot of changes in the past couple of months. Scour now being owned by CenterSpan Communications, hold up heres some information about them. CenterSpan is an Oregon-based company focused on distributing content via the web. If you'd like to learn more about CenterSpan, visit their website http://www.centerspan.com .If you're more interested in knowing what they have in mind for Scour, read on.

Scour is trying to re-launch themselves after there heavy blow, when they filed for bankrupt a couple months back. But to make sure they don't go bankrupt again their going to have to be "legal" yup that word that we all sigh against. What do you expect from them, I don't think they want to get hit with another $250,000,000,000 lawsuit against them. So cut them some slack, their doing the best they can for you! Now will Scour's service still be free, not sure yet but this is what they said "We know the rules are going to change. What that means as far as what's free and what isn't hasn't been determined." I know that doesn't really answer the question, but It all takes time. Most likely my opinion is their going to have some sort of premium service running with their application, who knows?

They also released a beta test, so If you're interested in this go check out their page below, they will email you all the information and so on. Thanks to Doobybrain, for giving me this idea for this news article.

Yea... this news is really old, only took about a month + to actually get it on dmusic though, wow! Anyways, I've beta-tested the new scour and it sucks - they're doing a cross browser/program interface and they only have WMA files, at least at the moment. The files, at least atm, don't even work in winamp. Basically Scour won't come back because they probably will instate a paying service, which only idiots will pay for. Napster is also to the shits cause they are going to make people pay for the service. Basically Audiogalaxy is rocking the P2P world cause their set up actually works. iMesh's program basically sucks, idea is good, but I found it to be quite buggy. I won't even talk about Gnutella... not even worth trying. But Dmusic is also just about dead... no news, or at least any worth reading, no real site updates. Basically Dmusic sucks ass. Next time, at least do a news article close to the time when things actually are in press releases.

If you can't get Gnutella to work properly, you're doing something wrong. Gnu works great as long as you've got a good client.

iMesh is a gnutella client, if I am not mistaken..so technically, you have already tried gnutella...
