you wanna know what?
when i'm looking at monaux's skins, at goochtek's skins, and at all the other great skins, i'm absolutely satisfied....i don't know if WA3 will be 2x compatible, so....now...stop the project. leave me alone. go h0me.

I hope WA3 won't have the same fate as Mozzila - an overly sophisticated piece of engineering that takes way too much to be released, just about after everyone switched to the MS alternative, which kept getting better and better while the mozzila/WA programmers kept saying to themselves: "We have super XMML/SFGX, we re-implemented the wheel, we rule!"
Wow, this came out as a rant!
But think about it.

By the looks of it, I'll stick to 2.x. Besides, WA3 isn't developed by Justin... So, really, it can't even bee as good And besides, even after 3 is released, Justin will develop the 2.x series even further. Lots of digits to go until 2.999.

it's all good that they want to come up with something new,but i'll stick with 2x for now....i just wish they'd do something about their skins section...they have such crap listed as 5 star skins-all pixelized and buggy pieces of junk...you have to sort through a hundred skins just to find a decent one...

what use do you have of an alpha winamp 3, when all it's used for is playing mp3's ... I mean, I haven't touched anything but the skin-support and a crossfade-option. The only major feat. that could make me change program is cpu-usage, and winamp 2.7x owns any other app doing the same job... *shrugs*, waste of time nullsoft.

The only two things that make this case does not compare as well to IE/Mozzila is:
1) There is not a super-duper mp3/*** player getting better and better (at least not yet released)
2) AND winamp already works really fine. It does what it is supposed to do very well AND it does better than any other player. Plus mozzila wasn't so efficient as winamp is in its area.

Winamp 2 is the best player but everyone knows that.. only the playlist could use a couple of enhancments.
Winamp 3 looks bloated already as it is, with all those little windows and everything... and freeform skinning is mostly evil. The database thingy however is a nice touch.
Mantis demo.. yes I found that impressive too, now I want to see a finished player!

"If it's not broken, don't fix it" and "what's the point of an alpha when we already have 2.x" have got to be two of the most IGNORANT things I've ever read in my entire life. By that logic, why should we ever improve on anything. Improving requires risk, and god forbid that someone should fail at trying something. I applaud Nullsoft for what they're doing, and I've been trying the alphas as they come out. They're getting better and better, with lower CPU usage, and I can't wait to see the final product (even if I end up sticking with 2.x). All these people badmouthing the company for expanding should be slapped upside the head.

I remember everyone thought this was going to be out, complete, last xmas. Even one of the nullsoft people said it was, however by the looks of it it seems it wasn't even Started till then. We're almost halfway through the year and it's still in alpha! With a couple of playlist enhancements i'd stick with 2.xx, as someone has already mentioned, this just seems like bloatware. A good artist knows when to stop fiddling with his painting before he overdoes it, it's a pity nullsoft can't do the same.

How many more 2.xx's do we need man...I mean have'nt you had this alpha version online for a long time now so that you can make substantial changes to that player of yours. Also I would love 2 see winamp skins like sonic's.Hope you get ALL the bugs etc. out of the player sooner than ur next version of 2.xx comes out.
As for me I'm off to get this EVIL player...
Bye ppl.

Lets see how many ways we can restate the same post. As i read down the list i see the same ideas restated over and over. ether "Im not going to upgrade to wa3 because its only an alpha" or "winamp 2.xx is sooooo perfect leave it alone man". Both of these ideas leave very little to add on to. As for my take on the deal, WA3 has some great enchanced functioning (transparent/shaped skins for example) but it using the same codex to play mp3s as of yet. So in short no need to upgrade. does the same damn thing the same way.

winamp 3 sucks. using xml in skins is fucking stupid. not everybody knows xml or even html. the whole skinning process it way too long and complicated. its getting up there with sonique and windows media player in difficulty.
