WinAMP / Windows 2000 Transparency Plugin
Posted by DMemberjark in on April 8, 2001 at 4:12 AM

Windows 2000 has built-in support for transparency and layered windows, which makes this plug-in for WinAMP especially fun!

What this does is allow the WinAMP window to be transparent, while opened. The best way to use it is to set WinAMP always on top, which allows the windows to blend with other windows underneath it. Its really just for fun and nothing else.

The source code is being made available by the author, though it is not necessary if you merely just want to play with the plug-in. Remember, if you plan to use this then you will need Windows 2000 or later. It will NOT work in Windows 95, 98, NT4 and possibly not in Windows ME.

It works in WinXP as well though acts kinda weird... disappeares in winshade mode (sometimes) and only the main window goes transparent... and it would be nice if I could set the level of transparency :) (Smile)

I dont see much point in a plugin, when there's apps like [Plug] Trans2k [/Plug]

R than using a plugin for just winamp, you can use an app for all windows? ...i dont know..i guess options are good.

Heh... hey there Jafo...

[plug] http://winamp.mwos.cjb.net My WA trans proggy [/plug]

Like others have said, it'd been done before, it's been done better, and most people can't use it. And I expect it'd get annoying quite quickly. Other than that...

Check out a program called winshape. It will make every section of any application transparent.

DMemberthe-jafo

Format C: ....makes 'em all transparent, too...;p

Listen to Maxim if you want to use transparency properly in WinAMP....;) (Wink)

100% trans with that darn plugin is next to useless...and I've now deleted it so I can actually see WinAMP again...;p

Sonique 1.90 already does this, and its built in, doesn't require a plugin. Winamp sucks, get sonique
DMemberpierre
Date: April 9, 2001 @ 1:50 AM
Sonique's cool but has limited capabilities than Winamp so stay with it!!!

hey jafo

I tried to make it really trasparent like you said, I went format c: and it started to delete files... why is it doing this?

Also, I want to move my mouse to the left side of the screen, but my mouse is already on the left side of the pad... what do I do? send me a note! thanks!

HAHAHAHA ahh that was good...
