Here at Dmusic it is imperative that we benchmark next-generation solutions by reinventing synergistic communities and empowering revolutionary metrics.
We take delivering enterprise web-readiness very seriously because in order to adapt to the growing markets, we must always realize that to visualize seamless systems is a very important part of any corporate mandate.
It has been an on going problem that most entities have been unable to synthesize open-source web services to the necessary scale of scale integrated e-markets.
To that end, we need to make it our mission to evolve compelling portals and streamline B2B portals to have any hope of ever driving impactful e-commerce.
Thanx!!!

Redundant Array, means server, Multiple SCSI, plus external tape, DLT/DAT and network copy. Even if you had a Pentium 100 with Redhat Linux Server and a 500gb hard drive, you can transfer the entire server over local FTP just as a backup.

Jak wrote in the Site Outage thread, "And another thing - if you can get in to the file manager (which means your DNS has updated, you can also stream!) - uploading works but DON'T upload anything, as it will be lost when we move over. Well, you can upload, but you wont be able to stream it and I'm not getting it back for you when we move!..."

When you move over to where? I thought you already moved over. Why won't we be able to stream if we upload? Getting it back from where?
When will we be able to stream -all- files as well as upload new stuff?

We are moving over. The DNS changes could take anything up to 48 hours. Which gives us quite a few more yet

STATUS REPORT.
We have moved files.dmusic.com to new servers. They are 16 gigs of RAM. However they only had the 32 bit kernel of Linux installed, which sees only 3 gigs. We are updating the kernel today.
DNS move is mostly done, so we know are concentrating on moving the following:
webserver
file server
mail server
image server.
scripts, etc.
They have to be troubleshot as we go, so expect some rough seas for a few days.
Streaming seems ok for most of you, but uploading and downloading is still spotty. This shall improve as we go along.
We did not plan to do a live vivisection of the site, but when the RAID 5 crashed with aonly a partial backup, we made the decision to go full speed ahead with the migration, damn the torpedos.
I predict (gulp) that Dmusic will now be in a position to be more easily developed, to gain substantial traffic, since the old legacy system was full off DOS attacks, weird memory leaks, not enought RAM, etc.
Imagine how frustrating it has been on this end. I am sure its not been a picnic for you guys either.
Anybody want to buy a Dell Poweredge server?
Ps: we are also recovering the missing files from the Raid 5, and we believe that most will be recovered, so that you won't have to re- upload.
In the interim, I would wait a a few days before uploading a lot of files. Try 1 or 2 first, and let us know how it goes.
Your help and patience have been and will be appreciated.

here's more:
Greetings,
I have installed the same set of packages as are installed on web1. I was able to pull a list of packages from dpkg and installed them on web2. This should give you the same base system as web1 to get DMusic going on the 64-bit server for testing.
Unfortunately, the data center technician didn't indicate which server he was working on, but I specified web2, as discussed during the conversation regarding 32 versus 64 bit.
All you need to do now is get the DMusic site on web2 and make sure it works so that we can eventually get web1 on a 64-bit OS.
Thank you for choosing us. Should you need to update this ticket, please log into your account and click on the Support tab, or you may call us anytime at one of the below numbers. We're glad to do what we can to help in any way possible!
Best Regards,
Sam C.

granted, i AM incompetent -but it still seems funny from my end. when i try to delete the files in my file manger, it says "deleted" but also a "smarty error". they disappear from the list only to reappear when i sign out and look from a "visitor" perspective. i've also tried changing properties (no dl especially) and no dice there either.
not complaining, just seeing if there's anything useful i can provide. good luck.

i have 4 or 5 songs that currently don't appear that should, file manager somehow was set to invisible, which i didn't do...but even when i put it back to visible setting, songs still don't appear on my music page...don't know if its related to all this fun stuff or what, but thought i'd point it out as silentpair did.
