Hilton to end 'dumb act'
12/06/2007 - 07:03:02

Paris Hilton says she has had enough of her "dumb" act.

The socialite revealed her new outlook in a weekend phone call from a prison medical ward where she is serving out a 45-day sentence for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.

“I used to act dumb. It was an act. I am 26 years old, and that act is no longer cute,” Miss Hilton said during the call, according to an account posted by to Barbara Walters on ABC’s website.

“It is not who I am, nor do I want to be that person for the young girls who looked up to me.”

After spending three days in jail last week, Hilton was briefly released to electronically monitored home confinement last Thursday for an undisclosed medical condition. An outraged judge sent her back to jail on Friday.

According to ABC News, the call came after Hilton’s mother, Kathy, phoned Ms Walters. During the conversation, Paris Hilton called her mother on another line, found out her mother was talking to Ms Walters, and then called Walters.

Hilton reiterated assertions that jail has changed her: “Now, I would like to make a difference. … God has given me this new chance.”

In a related development, civil rights leader the Rev Al Sharpton met Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca yesterday and told reporters afterwards that Hilton’s situation exemplified an unfair legal system.

“People who cannot afford the best lawyers, people who cannot afford the best doctors are not going to get an early release,” Rev Sharpton said.

Baca has denied giving any special treatment to Hilton by reassigning her to home detention.

Also yesterday, a claim against the county was announced by a black woman who has a prosthetic leg and was recently an inmate at the same jail where Hilton was held last week.

Her lawyer, Gloria Allred, said Pamela Richardson, 51, also “had serious medical issues” but was treated more badly than Hilton. A claim against a US government entity is a precursor to a lawsuit.

Oh, please don't tell me our young girls are dumb enough to consider her a role model. Please don't tell me that. Sigh And it was never "cute"-- another dumb comment. Rolls Eyes

you have to consider Evey generation is dumber and more gullible than the previous of course young children consider her a role model unless by some miracle the parents decided to teach their kid decently about life but its usualy not the case

Now we find out her behavior was only a "dumb act"??
You could have fooled ME; I thought that was just the way she really was.

What is her serious medical issue? V.D.?

Medical issue . . . hmm.
I wonder if this could have been concocted in order to try to get her out of the pokey; they won't release information because it's an issue of "confidentiality," of course.

At least this article above only calls her a socialite (and not a celebrity); gotta give 'em props for that, I guess.

Ha, I have two girls who are 13 and 10 and they both know that Paris is nothing but a shallow, egotistical, rich ballbaby who cares nothing about what the girls of this day and age emulate. Another attempt by a rich girl to manipulate the system. Just the fact that she used the religion card should show just how dumb she really is.

BTW: "using the religion card"

Last week, Hillary Clinton used the religion card. She said prayer helped her through the crises brought on by her womanizing husband.
Trying the spiritual appeal to gain support -- call it pragmatism or desperation, I don't know which.

Of course, some political anaylists say that just about the only way the Republicans COULD win next year is if Hillary gets the Democratic nomination.

The Democratic party isn't dumb; they kinda know that too. Look for Obama to prevail, so Hillary has got to show that she can garner more widespread support. Why not try the religious card in hopes for greater appeal?

Hilton reiterated assertions that jail has changed her: “Now, I would like to make a difference. … God has given me this new chance.”

She spent a couple of days in poorly appointed room, and she's going on like she did a nickle in San Quentin. Sheesh.

Why are we wasting time talking about her? (THAT's the whole problem! That nobody will simply shut up about her and just ignore the pampered slut!)

Like Martha Stewart, Paris has been humbled. She may take on a cause like Anjoli.

The news media (plus their advertising sponsors) need dingbats like Paris, Brittany, and Anna Nicole. To me, it's similar to the kind of stuff that keeps some of those afternoon live confront/shock shows going.

I blame the public in the same way I blame people for giving money to "professional" panhandlers begging on streetcorners.

In general:
We need to stop feeding the bears in the park; then they'll go away.

to clarify: "we" meaning our society

Also, I agree with leflaw when he asks, "What dumb act?"
Because it's not an act; she really IS dumb.
