Here is a taste of what I think is an interesting article.

Another parallel that Dakota misses, is misuse of basic terms. In the case
of the RIAA ,their ongoing and relentless use of "piracy" instead of "alleged
copyright infringement". In the case of Bush, it is ridiculous to talk about
a "War on Terror", since "Terror" is an emotional reaction. Why not have
a war on sadness or war on depression.

One could engage in a war on terrorists, but , then, depending on your definition
of what terrorists are (such as engaging in acts whose intended result is to strike
fear and dread in the hearts of average citizens), one might have to include the
RIAA as "terrorists".

And the IRS.

Law-abiding citizens do not buy RIAA music because their music is illegal.

But to get back to the topic...

The greatest similarity I see between the RIAA and the "War on Terror" is that they both have an undefined, mysterious "enemy" which can be twisted to include you if they feel like it -- and you are guilty until proven innocent, but you'll never get a trial.

Another parallel is the difficulty of trying to defeat an enemy that is not centrally located. You catch some terrorists and hundreds more take their place from diverse locations. They sue one P2P application and other more robust applications appear. They sue a few dozen students and there are millions more. You can't defeat well-organized terrorists with armies, tanks, and bombs. You can't defeat file-sharing with lawsuits and threats.

But maybe the RIAA and the MPAA would like to stifle the internet's freedoms to better suit their craving for control.
I still think the time is coming when some of their Congress-critter lackeys in Washington will start to sponsor some oppressive legislation for the internet, at behest of the content cartels.

Go read the chapter called "Protocols of the Wise Men of Zion" in Behold, a Pale Horse, and you will get the most bone numbing chill throughout your body that you have ever had in your life, when you finally realize that the very premise for this "war", was in "prototype", or alpha stage conceptualizations decades ago.

Remember the FORMAT WARS of HD-DVD and Blue Ray Disc? Remember all the bitching for years about this crap and then how bulletproof and uncrackable it was and how these TENS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS in R&D went to "guarantee the protection of so-called Intellectual Property"?

Well guess what, all that money just got SHIT down the toilent ONCE AGAIN. SO, ask yourself this question: Do you SERIOUSLY think that the MPAA/RIAA had UNSHAKEABLE faith and confidence that BRD and HD-DVD was going to "protect" their precious actors, actresses, and musicians "livelihood"?
