Well seeing as RAID stands for "Redundant Array of Independant Devices" RAID can not actually die. One section of the RAID blows -- the server is still up unphased and you just replace the broken componant. RAID is immortal

captdunsel,
Why yes, yes I do. I've been busy coding BugHunter... heh... another shameless plug for me! LOL. Seriously tho, Spyware is a royal pain in the arse for.. many people, and it seems to be getting worse. Another reason to avoid sites like myspace!

Another reason to avoid oses like Windows I'm not sorry I migrated to Linux.

Twarrior,
It's not the Os so much as the users.. A stupid user on windows will do the same stupid things on linux. In order for linux to become a desktop OS, it's going to have to dumb itself down as windows does...
I can't see any real reason to migrate to linux myself. It's fun to play with mind you, but that's about all it's useful for to me...

Twarrior,
spyware... it's a neat buzzword, but it's not really new per say. Basically spyware are trojans that tend to monitor/deliver advertising, track behavior etc... Linux has it's own fair share of nasties tho, as gfmlcka pointed out.

Well there are key differences so for me its like calling a tomatoe an orange
Just for the sake of pointing this out for informational purposes, I'll list the differences between all these things for all that might be paying attention.
Spyware -- as you said is a monitor / advertising type of agravation that typically tends to damage the WINDOWS operating system. No other oses that I know of can contract spyware.
Virus -- the key defenition of a virus is that it infects other files and replicates. Just as a virus in the human body infects other cells and replicates itself. Spyware does not infect other files, it just replicates. Any program can make a "copy" of itself so the key thing with viri is the "replication" part which turns your computer into pudding over time.
Trojan -- I like to think of these as more "kamakazi" applications. Trojans usually only are run once and used once because they do as much damage as they can. Most trojans like to go on seek and destroy suicide missions.
Worms -- Similar to a virus only much more nasty.
Linux has far and few worms, trojans or virii so the chances of catching it is slim. But yes, as you pointed out -- Linux worms make of for their rareness with their ability to ruin your day. Even so -- Linux is still one of the most safe and secure oses. I'd rather "take the chance" of catching something rather than to make it a guarentee that I do.

just asking tw,did you perchance get your linux distro off of some P2P network?
did you know a well crafted x86 asm virus would take fewer bytes than this post?
regardless of the OS, a properly configured HW NAT router is crucial. A software firewall helps.
But as Raid said, the weak link is between the chair and the keyboard and the technology to prevent an idiot from being hosed is about as likely as keeping teens from porn. Not in our lifetime my friend .

"To The United States Congress:
We are the customers and former customers of the member labels of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). We love music and will gladly pay a fair price for it, but we are outraged by the RIAA's tactics in suing ordinary Americans for filesharing.
We condemn the RIAA's choice to force the family of a 12 year-old girl to forfeit $2,000 - money that could have gone to feed, clothe and educate this honor student. We stand with the retirees, parents, children and others who have been caught in the RIAA's line of fire.
We respect reasonable copyright law, but we strongly oppose copyright enforcement that comes at the expense of privacy, due process and fair application of the law.
We urge you, as our representatives in Congress, to stop this madness.
We oppose the recording industry's decision to attack the public, bankrupt its customers and offer false amnesty to those who would impugn themselves. We call instead for a real amnesty: the development of a legal alternative that preserves file-sharing technology while ensuring that artists are fairly compensated.
In signing this petition, we formally request that the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), as representatives of the public interest, be included in any upcoming hearings regarding the proper scope of copyright enforcement in the digital age.
We sincerely thank you for your time. "
