I'm working in conjunction with Sony Music to let you know recording artist Mat Kearney is releasing his new album "Nothing Left To Lose," on April 18th 2006. In support of his new album, Mat is touring across America and doing an exciting "flyaway to New York" contest for which we will have further details in the coming days. In addition to mentioning and/or featuring the contest on your site, we believe that some editorial about Mat's upcoming album release and/or tour will be great for dmusic.com. We can provide you with tickets to his concert in your nearest city. (Go to www.matkearney.com and click on tour for dates, cities, venues.) I can also send you digital photos, press materials, an advanced copy of his new CD and give you the opportunity to have Mat answer any questions exclusively for dmusic.com.
I look forward to working with you.

Best,

clearly, sony's PR doesn't put too much effort into researching potential advertisers just as sony didn't put in more time to fix their DRM software before releasing it. . .

Oh it's real. Look at it... the letter's a well written out, but clearly cookie-cutter letter. Don't flatter yourself too much dmusic... it ain't that dmusic was saught out for like someone said "Hey, Rita, go e-mail dmusic.com and tell them..." No no no... it's a f*ckin' copy-and-paste letter. All the person has to do is write up that letter right there and modify ONE word, the web site name… and then send it out to as many big-time (which dmusic is) artist web sites that you pull up on a search engine for “independent music community” or whatever.

“… Mat's upcoming album release and/or tour will be great for diskant.net .”

“… Mat's upcoming album release and/or tour will be great for outersound.com .”

“… Mat's upcoming album release and/or tour will be great for artistopia.com .”

Yeah, it ain’t like they give or know sh*t about dmusic, or any of 20 other web sites they hit. All they gotta’ do is promise “free tickets” to the nearest town the web master lives in… and that’s exchange for what people otherwise would PAY for advertising / promotion. Best of all, they don’t have to give out tickets until they see the web site is whoring “Matt” out enough that they feel is good enough… and “free tickets” are given out like free condoms at a high school prom… So ‘yer right Tracy, this PR chick did ZERO research on dmusic and no doubt any other web sites they perform hit-and-runs on.

Hahaha... I bet you do leflaw. And you keep havin' big nuts and tell'em to "'Freak off..." and continue to support your indepentent musicians, who don't have thousands and thousands of dollars to get them heard. Respect.

"I can also send you digital photos, press materials, an advanced copy of his new CD and give you the opportunity to have Mat answer any questions exclusively for dmusic.com.

The big guns shouldve started worrying... even their reps are now waking up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat, thinking of the rise of the Indies... Nodding

And mixerjaexx, if it's really nothing for us to be proud of, then why did they bother with us? theres hundreds of sites out there... I think this shows they at least know of our existence and maybe this is their way of feeling threatened enough that they have to try bribing our members...

Doesn't Sony realise how much they are despised by MOST independent music communities?

If I was Dmusic I will simply advertise this:

"buy this Mat Kearney's new album "Nothing Left To Lose" only if you have nothing left to lose and if your computer is a wreek full of spywares, virus and rootkits.

By it only if one more Sony rootkit would not make a difference.

I can only see this...

I think it would be better if we had them promote dmusic at Mat's tours, instead of us receiving his promo material.

Let us give them a promo package Nodding
