Suggestion: Host Your Own Anti-Riaa Rally!
Posted by OtherMike (Shmoo) in on November 25, 2005 at 12:13 PM

Let's figure out a way to make it quick and easy to do.

Let's figure out how to make it VERY cheap.

Let's figure out how to make it EFFECTIVE!

And, when we are done, let's URGE folks to start doing it in their own home-towns!

======================

My suggestions thus far for "how to hold a Boycott-Riaa rally" are:

1: Get at least 8 or more friends commited to participating with ya!

2: Pick a suitable location!

3: Have EVERYTHING "in place" 2 weeks BEFORE you set a "date to do it."

4: Print business cards with your message and the link & logo of Boycott-Riaa.com. (Cost would be about $10 per 1000 if b&w)

5: Print 1 page fliers to hand out along with the business cards.

6: Print/draw a few BIG signs that are clearly visible from a distance.

7: Alert the local media. (Be persistant! Make SURE they show up to cover the rally!)

8: Make sure the local authorities know you will be holding a public peacefull rally. GET PERMITS if your city/local require them!!!

9: Spend about 4 to 8 hours standing around at your public place of gathering handing out the fliers/business-cards and talking to people about the evils of the RIAA.

================

Hey, I'm just brainstorming. (GadflyDiscourse, of all people, got me thinking along these lines again.)

ADD YOUR THOUGHTS AND SUGGESTIONS!!!! I will eventually update the "Street Team Resources" link over on the left with whatever we come up with.

Some suggested sites to hold such a rally:

Near/on the college campus (or, even High School campus)

at the Courthouse/Municipal Building

ANYWHERE that is Public Property with lots of pedestrian traffic (In front of/inside a local mall)

Folks, I want EACH of our "regulars" to organize and hold at least ONE such rally in your home-town by the end of 2006, (...perhaps sooner if we coordinate a nation-wide thingy all-together.)

But hey! It's just Brainstorming-Time at the moment!!!

No way! (Were you being peaceful ...or were you actually inciting a riot?)

...or, were your local authorities just stereotypically being "the man"?

(I don't ever remember ANY boycott-riaa folk EVER being thrown in the can...)

Don't keep secrets captdunsel... GIVE us the story!

The last time I tried, it cost me tens of thousands of dollars and not a single person showed up.

Would you like to revise this title?

One interpretation is: When you attend an "Anti-Riaa Protest Rally" it mean that you are protesting anti-riaa sentiment and therefore that you are supporting the riaa.

Try again.

When i first started out in business, my best advertising for the price was cardboard signs i made taped to the sides of my trucks. Lots exsposure no trouble with the law, basic info with a phone number. In this case basic info with the web page.

SONY INSTALLS SPYWARE
ON YOUR COMPUTER
WWW.Boycott-Riaa.com

Simple, drive to the locale mall this time a year and thousands of people may get a education. We may need to assist sony in the removal of their product from the shelves.
