POLOP ROCK FESTIVAL - '06 REVIEW
We would like to thank everyone who came to the third annual POLOP ROCK FESTIVAL in October 2006. It was a total beer fuelled blast as usual!
21:00 HOURS - MOLLY'S CHAMBER were quite literally superb! We think this duo have the makings of folk stardom! No joke, Just check out their page and hear their serenity. What in gods name are they doing undiscovered? Come on you lot, wake up! We've filmed a video of live footage which we'll put out very soon! Marisa sang beautifully in the candlelit room overlooking the main stage accompanied by Ramon who played a blinder on Acoustic Guitar. A true honour was bestowed when the Town Mayor and local associates sat front stage and watched the second set open mouthed in awe!
22:00 hours - Next act on was GREEDY JESUS on stage 3 (La Font) This short well presented set was well received and a taster for his show which was to come the following night.
12:45 Hours - JAY HARDEN (Els Xorros & stage 3) Jay had turned up late saturday night after his long trip down from Barcelona and was re-scheduled to play the following lunchtime. This is serious no-nonsense Folk/Blues. After one hour of original songs played to a raptuous little venue Jay bade farewell to the crowd. He then sped off in an awaiting Taxi. (A true Star exit!) The set was recorded and parts of the show were filmed by UKFM for future releases on his myspace website. His son `Stars Above´ was played to perfection and Jay Harden showed Polop that dedication and talent can take acoustic music to a new level. Check out his page on myspace for more info and original music by Jay!
19:00 hours - PAUL MORRIS (stage 2). A quiet mini-set by a great new musician. Paul Morris was booked in the last week of the organisation process. A local lad from Liverpool. After a brief jam session in Liverpool with KillerMiller & Greedy Jesus, Paul hit the indoor stage with three new songs. He quietly rocked out and brought the merry crowd to a standstill with his interesting style of classic covers. For a solo artist he sure filled the place with enough sound! The set was good and the newcomer had his first taste of Lights, Sound and Cameras. Lets hope he makes it one day! After thirty minutes and to the delight of Polop, Paul smiled. Waved and stood down totally happy & with a sense of fulfilment.
20:00 hours - KILLERMILLER took to the stage to a warm welcome. He played his old haunt for 30 minutes re-living some past leftover jokes with the local crowd. His songs: The Dracula Spectacular, Pieces Missing, Whisky & Women, Blue Sharp, Baby (I wanna make love to you), The Condor, were all played acoustically and un-accompanied. (The first time in 3 years at Tasca L'Albarda!) Video was recorded as was Audio and Live releases will be out soon! Check his page for releases from this set now!
21:00 hours - GREEDY JESUS took to the stage for the first time abroad. His nerves soon filtered away and he got his teeth into the crowd with his special brand of acoustic music. His voice filtered through the Spanish air like a sweet scent and the crowd soon warmed to his perfect harmony and melody. The set was a true success and he'll be back in 2007! Video again was filmed and will be released in the near future here on myspace.
22:00 hours - THE NOMAD (Blues Karaoke Show) Bruce Dowding Rocked out in La Tasca!
24:00 hours - THE EMPTY BOTTLES. This years headliners took to the stage at midnight to what was to be nearly 2 hours of solid energy and Rock passion! The floor pounded to the Vocals of Tony Miles who in the short space of three years has devoured the Alicante Rock scene and is now hungry for more! The Empty Bottles have a new page at Myspace! Check it out you ´ll find both Video & Audio from this great gig coming there soon!
OUR REGRETS GO TO TWO BANDS: WAKAMOLE & MORT OU LA MEGAPHONE who were both cancelled due to lack of co-operation from the Town Hall. Permission to play on the outdoor stage was denied for the Sunday evening. Therefore these bands were cancelled.
Bands on Stage One - 7th October
