Geez. Politics and religion.
I'm glad to see the Vatican spending their time looking for evil spirits and demons instead of pedophile priests. Maybe they'll get a pilot for NBC's next season.
As for politics, the pendulum may swing the other way, but I don't see anyone ready to grab it. I'd vote for Oprah before anyone in Congress.
Then again, we'll probably have a terror alert at the end of 2008, requiring martial law to be instituted before the next electee can take office and lasting until the all-important "War on Terror" has been won.
"Why try to save the past? It already happened."
Because it will happen again.

Yes. History re-cycles.
The people and the circumstances vary, but the more things change, the more they revert back to the kinds of things that happened previously.
Agreed, martial law is coming — causing 'temporary' suspension of Constitutional rights.
Free nations will have to face untenable situations
to have them relinquish their sovereignty, before a new world order can be established.

"The pendulum is gonna swing democrat next prez election time."
not if the dems don't get their stuff together. the key for them to win in 08 is not only to have a better direction, but a candadate that can carry that message effectively, not just someone they think can beat the other guy. that's what hurt them before. The republicans did the same thin in 96. Personally I don't see anyone the Dems have tossed out as possibles that I'd even consider voting for. Hillary? forget it, I'll register republican before I touch her name in the ballot box.
However if we really want a candadate who can think for themselves and not follow an idealoge party line, lets do what we do with music.... GO INDEPENDENT!!!

With typo errors, apparently...mostly mine.
Ok,..what's with Toledo, Ohio? They have a lot of gang activity? More than other places?
Police knew gangs would target Nazi March
Hard to belive that 24 people could create pandemonium, but, do we sit back and call this their right to free speech and their right to congregate and protest? Knowing the hate that is out there. Or what?
|
ShadowMom
|
Date: October 16, 2005 @ 5:53 PM
Probably the best way to handle these hate groups is...ignore them. Don't go to their marches...won't they look silly out there by themselves? What they crave is attention and press...which is what they get when anti-protesters get carried away.

Okay, George, so shoot me....I think this is a fascinating tidbit...
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000103&sid=aT0EuwQJZyPo&refer=us
In an interview yesterday, Wilson said that once the criminal questions are settled, he and his wife may file a civil lawsuit against Bush, Cheney and others seeking damages for the alleged harm done to Plame's career.
If they do so, the current state of the law makes it likely that the suit will be allowed to proceed -- and Bush and Cheney will face questioning under oath -- while they are in office. The reason for that is a unanimous 1997 U.S. Supreme Court decision ruling that Paula Jones' sexual harassment suit against then- President Bill Clinton could go forward immediately, a decision that was hailed by conservatives at the time.

You know what, comp? We're up to the last letter of the alphabet that the weather service uses....the next named storm will be Alpha....and guess what. I have finally reached the point this year that I don't care...shutters up, shutters down...little pig little pig let me come in. The last forecast tracks I saw this afternoon (there are 5 models they use)...well, 3 of them curved right back over me. If I blow away into the ocean on this one, you all will just have to find someone else to be a thorn in your sides, because tonight I really don't care. Bring it on.

Grumpy, go to Weather Underground, click on the tropical tab...click on models...south florida...me....crap. There's a ridge of air they expect will push it to the east. The only question is how soon. Sooner, it hits my neck of the woods. Later, it goes north, and comp's mom is there...it's a no-win situation. As much as I hate to see another one this year, I can't wish it to go north...even if it spares me and mine...I can't wish it on those poor people again.

You know, just today I noticed how many roofs in my immediate neighborhood are either missing shingles or still have plastic covering them...and how long ago did Katrina come through here? All the roofers, just like all the contractors, are still on the Gulf Coast. And over on the west coast of Florida, people are still living in FEMA trailers, waiting for their houses to be repaired from Charley. Want to make a million? Storm shutters and mobile homes....there are never ever enough to go around.

"Grumpy, go to Weather Underground, click on the tropical tab...click on models...south florida...me....crap. There's a ridge of air they expect will push it to the east."
Thanks, though I knew about that. However. . .
When Rita was still about four days from landfall, the northeast quadrant of the storm was only given a 2 to 5% chance to hit the Louisiana coast . . . but ultimately it did.
So, my guess this time around may be as good as theirs.
Time will tell.

I know the prediction (based on current upper atmospheric conditions and computer projections).
I'm just saying the storm might go where it's 'supposed' to, that's all. It may venture farther west.
We'll see.
If I'm wrong, I'll be a man and take my lumps.
If I'm right, I'll accept some props.

Never pay much attention to the models past 3 days...I believe they even put a little disclaimer somewhere on their page..It's not a matter of right or wrong, grumpygeezer, but living in Miami for more years than I will reveal....and that includes Andrew, mind you...they do a damn good job up to three days. Don't expect miracles. Mother Nature has her own designs, and we don't get sneak peeks. NOAA is a few miles from me, and I love them dearly. But people don't always listen to what they say. It's a failing of our society, I think. No lumps, no props, it just is what it is. And we live with it down here.
