Word on the Street
Buskers Records breaks into the scene with their roster showcase featuring Peter Katz (solo), Carrie Catherine (full band), Jude Haines (full band), Jacqueline Rendell (trio), Bent Brain (full band) and Gomango (full band)
October 2, 2005 @ The Rivoli (334 Queen St. W, Toronto)
Doors at 7pm,
On October 2, 2005 Buskers Records & Management will present “Word on the Street, an evening showcasing this grossly talented roster at the Rivoli. This event will mark the first official showcase for Buskers Records & Management featuring much of the management roster that includes Tim Vesley’s The Violet Archers, Peter Katz, Carrie Catherine (Horachek), Jude Haines, Bent Brain with publicity clients Jacqueline Rendell and Gomango. With new CD releases just out or upcoming, each artist is introducing their addition to the explosion of Canadian music. This showcase promises an evening of stunning talent from a collection of artists who will see a tremendous 2006.
Brent Bain, owner of Buskers Records & Management has been turning heads in the music business since his arrival on the Toronto scene in 2003. Covering every avenue of the industry from a world-traveled street performer and seven-piece band leader, to working with the Music Managers Forum of Canada, and Six Shooter Records. Somewhere between showering and shaving, Brent has found the energy to develop and maintain a management roster of his own.
Canadian Music Network wrote: “A dedicated businessman as well as musician, world-traveled street performer and Toronto-based Calgarian, Brent Bain started Buskers Records & Management as a way to give a voice to struggling musicians, dedicated to finding the diamonds in every city’s pile of rocks. It only makes sense to bring the high calibre song writing and performance talent represented by Buskers Records to the stage for your enjoyment.
There will not be a dull moment at Word on the Street as you experience the intensity of Peter Katz’s stage presence, the soulful delivery of Bent Brain, the sensitivity of Jacqueline Rendell, the groove of Gomango, the green eyed soul of Carrie Catherine and tragically romantic Jude Haines.
Buskers (or Troubadours) were once traveling news broadcasters sharing tales of their last journey with another community. These were respected, valued and vital members of society. Buskers Records & Management carries this tradition through their dedicated to artists (not necessarily street performers) who are active in their careers and stunning in their craft. Don’t miss this chance to see it all on one stage.
