Re-Cut Your Tracks and Don't Lose Comments
Posted by ElectronicVan in on September 6, 2005 at 4:42 PM

This feature has been a long time coming...The ability to update songs and keep comments. Sometimes, you don't quite get a mix perfect, sour notes, pitchy vocals, etc. Well, now you can put a new version of the track up on your DM page and not lose all those insightful comments.

This is a subscriber-only feature, and the new link can be found in your Artist Admin under File Manager, Music. You'll see a new link beneath every track "Change Song File".

Many thanks to mux who lovingly cared for this code as if it were his own offspring.

Big green choo-choo is rolling. Stay tuned, there's a lot going down in green choo-choo town.

Good stuff! Clapping
It's finally here! Party

However... I think it'd be a good idea if there were some sort of marker placed in the comments as of when the track was updated...

Example: You already have 22 comments on a track and then decide to re-post. I think there should be some sort of indication (like a 23rd comment saying “Track Updated”) that the track was updated and people are now commenting on the “new” song compared to the original. Cause if comment #18 says “I love the guitar solo @ 2:13” but the re-posted track has it now @ 2:45 (or maybe the solo was completely taken out), it could be confusing to someone glancing over the other comments…

Did that make any sense? Shrug

with all this new code, I think I might be able to put twenty bucks aside for a while.
