DM Space Enforcement - Important Please Read!
Posted by ElectronicVan in on August 18, 2005 at 4:48 PM

Starting tomorrow (8/19/2005), we are going to put page-level enforcement measures in place for artists that are over their quota. For each non-subscriber in the artist account, they get 75 megs. For each subscriber, they get whatever their subscription allows.

This will only affect accounts that have basically been dormant since the introduction of the subscriber packages. Those affected will be artists that haven't added tracks, as this same logic is enforced in the artist admin area.

To see if you are over your limit, check your artist admin and refer to the statistics at the top of the page.

This coupled with multi-artist enforcement will greatly reduce DM costs and help us continue to roll out cool stuff without going too broke in the process.

In short, USE it if you don't want to LOOSE it! (Don't just drop off a zillion tunes, take up a ton of server space, then never visit/use/promote the site!)

So what exactly is going to happen to these sneaky people? Is their entire page going to be erased? Or are you going to kill off random tracks until the quota is fair? Don't get me wrong, I'm completely innocent and follow the rules Nodding... I'm just curious. :-) (Smile)

Well it's already in place since Friday. I haven't heard from a single person that was affected. And no tracks have been deleted whatsoever, you just can't see 'em anymore. If those people that were over their quota want to subscribe, they'd get their tracks visible again and wouldn't lose any comments at all.

Starting 8/19/05? I thought it was there since I've been on 11/04. I get 75 megs of upload space at 12 megs per song and if I go over 12 megs the upload fails. And on top of that the quality of the song is lowered by Dmusic whether you have a high speed connection or not. I've noticed this when I stream them here and play them on my Realplayer.
