fossile studio now Internet ready!
Posted by RockGlenn in on August 13, 2005 at 10:10 AM

The fossile studio in northern NJ has now completed the initial installation of the audio monitoring and camera system to enable live Internet broadcasts from its studio. By combining high resolution audio and video, the studio can broadcast live performances over the Internet to viewers using Windows Media Player. The audio and video are multiple bandwidth from 32K to 400K so dial-up and broadband users can view and listen to live performances.
"This capability is the first step in our effort to create an Internet based music collaboration system suitable for all users" say Glenn Stanton, member of the group fossile and studio owner. "We've been working on online live collaboration for the past six months and having this live broadcast capability allows us to share reasonably high quality audio with a very wide audience".

Part of the problem with live Internet collaboration is the latency or time lag in traffic between users, as well as audio quality. "By building this live broadcast capability we've solved the quality issue and with some tools still in the works, we hope to solve the latency issues soon." The collaboration system will be based on individuals being able to collaborate instead of a centralized organization and the software will be capable of being used by nearly anyone with a DSL or faster connection.
