How the hell and I supposed to get any work done when all I have in my head is 'Shine on, I thought you were gone...' or 'It's feels like somebody loves you, somebody understands...'

Since last night (Tuesday) I have had Nik Kershaw's tunes running through my head. He is absolutely awesome live. He captured the crowd the instant he started singing (I think he started with Wide Boy), playing his acoustic with Leo on an electric as support.

Acoustive versions of major hits like 'Dancing Girls', 'Wouldn't It Be Good' and 'I Won't Let The Sun Go Down On Me' were performed flawlessy and for an oldie like me, a blast from the past.

His more recent tracks were just as well played, including 'Dangerous Eyes', a bouncy three-beat piece and 'Billy', which he stated had the best lyrics he had ever written. The former of these two is on his newly released 'Then and Now' album which is in UK shops and available to order online for those overseas. The latter is from the 15 Minutes album.

The crowd was drawn from people who won text-in competitions on a UK radio station and in such an intimate environment it was pleasing to see Nik mixing with fans before and after the performance - allbeit for a limited time.

An excellent evening was had by all, including those who had driven the length of the country and, of course, the fans who flew in from Germany, Italy and (believe it or not) the US.

If you weren't there, you should have been. This is not some corny comeback of an aged eighties pop star, this is the maturing of a musician whose expertise with his instrument combines perfectly with his abilities as a songwriter and a vocalist.

I have yet to see a better performance from anyone.
