That simple same ole, same old url hypertext linking trick:

1.) Copy and Paste (or painstakingly "type") the following:

[url= http://linkwhatever.com]Headline[ /url]

2.) REMOVE the 2 spaces.

3.) Trade "http://linkwhatever.com" with the actual link you are presenting

4.) Trade "Headline" with the article/story headline (or your own creative and descriptive text!)

5.) Hard part is DONE! Throw in whatever else you want to say at this point!

Keep us educated!

There's a story at the Washington Post today that I won't bother linking to. I think we can capture the essense with just a couple of paragraphs.

"Ben Freedland bought a new music CD by campus fave the Dave Matthews Band, then he tried to upload it onto his Apple iPod.

"The screen went blank, then a copyright agreement popped up. The music wasn't going anywhere. Freedland could play the CD on his laptop, but he couldn't transfer it, and he couldn't copy it to share the mellow grooves with friends or family.

"Freedland deemed the CD 'worthless.'"

Page 3 of the story contains this gem:

"For their part, record companies say content protection won't hurt sales."

hahahahahaha

"When Sony Corp. opened up the proprietary Universal Media Disk (UMD) format that the company uses in its PlayStation Portable (PSP) to encourage others to provide content for their gaming device, they didn't have porn in mind."

Hey cool, maybe we can finally get translated hentai games over here, instead of having to hack/mod/bastardize our systems. *cough* I mean, what a shame to deface the morals and good image of Sony's wonderful products. Hope they start selling PSP pron at goodvibes or babeland.

A guy in Scottsdale, AZ, was found guilty yesterday of having a Halloween display that was "too loud and too scary." He's looking at a $2500 fine and a few weeks in jail.

Alice Cooper also runs a haunted house in Phoenix at Halloween. Alice has not been accused of being too loud or too scary.

"But the number of "inappropriate" posts soon began to overwhelm the editors' ability to monitor the site. On Sunday, editors decided to remove the feature."

IMHO, these media corporations should just stay away from trying to capitalize on any of the cool things the Internet has to offer to the people. Serves them right that this happened.

After what Mayor James West called his "brutal outing" by a newspaper that published transcripts of his conversations from a gay chat room, he complained in an e-mail to the city's commission on race relations. West asked: "Should we all fear that our private conversations will be splashed publicly and out of context for all in our sphere to see?" The answer, Internet privacy advocates say, is "yes."

I'm shocked. That's right, shocked. You mean it's not all about the artists? This destroys my entire vision of the world. Woe is me.

Slightly Off-Topic

Forget about "intellectual property" for a moment, and lets all worry about our actual property.
SCOTUS ok's personal property siezures

We finally own our house, and now we have to worry that it might be snatched up in a land grab? Oh sure, we'll be "compensated" but where are we going to find a $20k home again?
