We plan to do something similar with Electric Gypsy's "debut" album whenever we get it finished. For now, lots and lots of mp3s available!

At some point, the artist may want to switch to offering a torrent of the file, taking the bandwidth usage off the site and putting it in the hands of the fans. Plus it's easier for me to link to in my LJ, which I'm doing now.

mp3, aiff, wav files. Everything else comes and goes.
I'm not downloading proprietary software to listen to music. Just one more unnecessary thing to not work right and conflict with existing software.

oggs are even better than mp3, but they don't have the same level of popularity. I'm sure George simply forgot to list them.
As for mp4's, aren't they DRMable? If so, forget 'em.
